That almost sounds like it could be a song. Almost

For the past four days I have been in the most excellent company, hurtling around in a fancy new Tesla, getting into mischief and enjoying some much needed fun.

And of course it was an adventure!

For starters, Idaho is a big state, and the distances we must cover when we travel within our state can be pretty expansive. So much so that when we go to our state capitol, Boise, it is much faster for us North Idaho folk to dip over into Washington, head down to Eastern Oregon, and drop into Boise that way, because it's all freeways.

I've made that trip in 6 hours and 27 minutes. Most people take about 7-8 hours that way, but as you can see, it is still a jaunty journey.

Well, when my friend who was driving her new Tesla because her husband took her car to the airport, said the car said to go Highway 95 through Idaho, I had a cloud of doubt swirl about in my brain. I just couldn't fathom why the car wanted to go that way. It's much slower due to the quality and build of the roads, and I didn't think there would be a ton of charging stop options.

An at max 9 hour drive took thirteen hours and many unexpected twists and turns.

We made it though, and there was much laughter in the Subaru behind the Tesla as car versus owner played out all over most of the state of Idaho. Seriously, the car took us from Lewiston to Kooskia instead of straight to Grangeville, we drove across the rolling hills of the Palouse in a thunderstorm, charged in some interesting locales, ended up in the land of the transplanted Yellowstone enthusiasts (McCall), and finally arrived at our Airbnb in Boise at a late hour.

I was elated. Well, tired, but it was hysterical and super fun.

The trip just kept on delivering too. We went back to one of our favorite haunts, The Old Idaho State Penitentiary because we had our daughters with us and they had never seen it (They loved it as much as we do), wandered through the founder of Albertsons wife's memorial garden, rode the Ferris wheel at Scheels, went shopping, ate woodfired pizza, the list goes on and on!

All of the above explains my absence one again. I never quit moving or chattering for four days straight, and on the way home I bonded with the spacecar and interfaced with both it and the driver so that we made it home in a much more respectable 8 hours.

I mean to be fair, the car was learning, it only had less than a thousand miles on it when we started, and I gotta say, I thought it was amazing! Plus, we got to putz around every time we stopped to charge for a few minutes, and out of our four charging stops, only lunch was a long one, the others were minutes.

So, I have to say, this weekend was truly an adventure, both in the past, present, and future. I'll be sharing much more of it on here, but right now it's hot and I think I am going to go lay in the hammock for a spell.
