Hello, my beautiful people. I'm joining @galenkp's initiative this weekend. I love this question and decided to expand on the topic: Do you want to lose weight and be healthier? Explain why and what you're doing to make it happen.
I'm currently dealing with a health issue, which has led me to follow a healthy diet, complemented by half-hour walks three times a week. I've been eating healthy for about a month now.
I had slipped into a somewhat sedentary lifestyle and gained weight, and I started experiencing body aches and pains. One day my hands hurt, the next my knees hurt, and I felt fatigued and tired. It was my body giving me a wake-up call. I had to stop eating what I'd been eating that wasn't healthy. I overindulged in sweets and refined flours.
I consulted with my endocrinologist, and he designed a balanced diet for me. He gave me many options. It's worth noting that I have thyroid problems. I had gained weight, and some of my cholesterol, blood sugar, and triglyceride levels were elevated. These began to cause symptoms in my body. I knew something was wrong.
I'm no longer a teenager who can eat whatever I want. I'm an adult now, and our bodies take their toll if we don't take care of our health, especially if we suffer from a medical condition.
The diet I currently follow is balanced, not a strict diet. I eat several meals a day, including healthy desserts. My intake of processed carbohydrates and processed sugars has decreased considerably. I get my sugar from fruits and carbohydrates from tubers like yuca, potatoes, brown rice, and corn. I consume unprocessed, whole-grain products.
I love arepas and always eat them in a healthy way. The arepas I eat are made with carrots, whole-wheat flour, oats, yuca, unprocessed corn flour, zucchini, and chia seeds, so I make them in a variety of ways. I usually eat fish soup, chicken soup, and grain soups that are a source of plant-based protein. Being overweight is definitely not healthy. Many people think that being overweight is healthy.
