Its #squirrelsunday again...
Summer is here to stay said the young and reckless squirrel. I don't need to store anything away and I'll just feast on all my walnuts right here and now.
The wise old squirrel scolded the young one saying he won't live another season with an attitude like that.
The prison yard chipmunk told the young squirrel its ok to be reckless and he was able to survive any possible winters by stealing from others, that is until he got caught.
Darn telescreens are lurking everywhere in the forest. Be reckless but keep an eye out for big brother said the chipmunk.
The house sparrow warden told the chipmunk he would be getting more time added to his sentence unless he reforms his behavior.
Winter finally hit and all the fat summer geese are heading south. They have wings but the squirrels are too small to outrun the cold.
Now the reckless squirrel is begging for food in the human alleyways. Please can you spare part of that bagel for me? The human sent a dog after him and he had to run out into open territory.
The wise old squirrel had to look away at the horror about to unfold.
Now the owl has found an easy meal with a squirrel out in the open. This squirrel is nice and fat as he ate all his walnuts early on. Now I can feed my chicks at home and survive the winter.
I see it every year, only the prepared and cautious squirrel survive. They keep taking advice from that prison yard chipmunk and get wrecked by the winter.
Even the goofy upside down nuthatch knows to save for the winter. At least those silly reckless squirrel keep the owls off my back for a while.
Word has it the chipmunk is collaborating with the sparrows to keep the owls away from their territory by convincing the squirrels to get caught out in the open with their begging. Moral of the story save up and never trust little tiny rodents.
That's all for now, thanks for looking :-)
