This is my first time writing for the weekend engagement. Topic 2: "What book are you reading this weekend and why?" The topic really appeals to me because I really enjoy reading and listening to audiobooks.
What: The Power of Moments by Chip and Dan Heath
This weekend, I am listening to The Power of Moments by Chip and Dan Heath. Yes, I took a picture of my phone with another phone to show the book cover. ๐
The title caught my attention because our lives are made up of moments. It's been an interesting book with several new insights that I hadn't thought of before. It explains what the authors call "defining moments" and how to create more of them.
Without copying too much of the book, the main topics are four key types of defining moments, which are:
- Moments of Elevation
- Moments of Insight
- Moments of Pride
- Moments of Connection
The book gives a lot of specific and practical advice about how to create more defining moments in our lives at work and at home.
Why This Book?
I felt this book would help me both professionally at work and personally with family and friends.
At times, it feels my life gets in a rut of doing the same things over and over without many powerful moments. My hope is this book will give me guidance and insight into creating more powerful and memorable moments in my life (so far, it has!).
Earlier I mentioned how much I like listening to audiobooks. Just for fun, I thought I would share a screenshot of my listening stats from Audible in case you're interested.
Thanks
Thanks to @galenkp for suggesting this topic in the Weekend-Engagement Topics: Week 271. I've wanted to spend more time writing about the books I am reading and this was a good motivation to do that today.
