It was a beautiful and calm warm evening in June, when I was returning from a walk and a visit to my friends who live on a remote farm. If on a hot day it is better to go to them through the forest, then in the evening it is much more interesting to return home along the top of a hill covered with grass and admire the landscapes in the distance...
Oregano, thyme, St. John's wort and many other plants give an incredible mixture of aromas.
In every season (except winter, of course) you can watch the flowering of other plants. It is so interesting to constantly learn something new, to pay attention to some nameless small flower or insect.
Привіт, друзі! То був гарний і спокійний теплий вечір червня, коли я поверталася із прогулянки та відвідин моїх друзів, що живуть на віддаленому хуторі. Якщо у спекотний день до них краще йти через ліс, то увечері значно цікавіше повернутися додому вершиною пагорба, порослого травами і помилуватись пейзажами вдалині...
Материнка, чебрець, звіробій та багато інших рослин дарують неймовірну суміш ароматів і це просто п'янить... У кожну пору року (звісно окрім зими) можна спостерігати за цвітінням інших рослин.
Це так цікаво — постійно дізнаватися нове, звертати увагу на якусь безіменну дрібну квітку чи комаху.
Все навколо набувало теплих золотавих кольорів у світлі сонця, яке все нижче висіло над горизонтом.
Everything around took on warm golden colors in the light of the sun, which hung lower and lower above the horizon.
Suddenly I noticed red spots on the flowers. I looked closer, and they turned out to be insects unfamiliar to me. Something like small butterflies.
Well, using the Internet, I tried to identify the species and it is definitely someone from the genus Zygaena, most likely Zygaena purpuralis.
Its feature is the long bright red spots on the front wings and the almost completely red color of the hind wings.
The insect lives on forest edges, meadows, on sunny hillsides. It likes to fly in the evening hours, at dusk. Adults are active all summer.
They feed on flowers of thyme, oregano, lavender, clover and others.
Раптом на квітах в помітила червоні плямки. Придивилась ближче, це виявились незнайомі мені комахи. Щось схоже на маленьких метеликів.
Що ж, за допомогою інтернету я спробувала визначити вид і це точно хтось із роду Zygaena, швидше за все Zygaena purpuralis (українською Строкатка пурпурова). Її особливістю є довгі яскраво червоні плями на передніх крилах та майже повністю червоний колір задніх крил.
Комаха живе на узліссях, луках, на сонячних схилах пагорбів. Полюбляє літати у вечірні години, в час сутінків. Дорослі особини є активними все літо.
Харчуються квітами материнки, чебрецю лаванди, конюшини, духмяного горошку.

Взяла на руку одного з цієї компанії, щоб детальніше розгледіти та зробити фото. Та здається у нього не було надто великого бажання позувати, спішив до компанії, що розташувалась на суцвітті.
Тим часом сонце, яке стрімко заходило, кликало мене закінчувати дослідження природи і рухатися додому...
Вночі тут не настільки затишно.
