Hello my dear Hivers!
Today, let me share with you our spontaneous beach outing with my friends. It was Friday morning when our instructor announced that we wouldn’t have our makeup class for that day because she had something important to attend to.
So Lavester took the opportunity and invited us to go swimming at the beach since there were no classes. Katrien then replied, “Liar,” and Lesly added to it. I then said, “Just let me know what the decision is, guys,” because I was already preparing crayons and paper, thinking that this would just be another plan that wouldn’t actually happen just another drawing (meaning: only imagined).
But then, Johan asked in the group chat if we were really going swimming. Lavester replied yes. So I asked what food we would bring. Lesly said she and Justin would cook chicken feet adobo. Aside from the adobo, I also suggested we include some fish (tamban) and scallops. Without further complaints, Lesly agreed. Katrien was assigned to cook the rice. And regarding our budget? We had a sinking fund, so we just took from that. The actual budget we used was ₱600.
Since I was the one who suggested the scallops, I told them I would order it in advance and Justin would just pick it up from the store. They agreed.
Lesly reminded us that the tide would be high at 12 PM. But we weren’t able to leave exactly at 12 because we still had a lot to cook, buy, and prepare.

I left home at 12 PM and went straight to Katrien’s house. Rightaway, I saw the scallops. It turned out we only had one kilo, so we bought another kilo because one wasn't enough for all of us. Thankfully, the vendor I chatted with was very responsive.
The tamban fish was already at Katrien’s. Our original plan was to grill it, but since we were running out of time, Lavester suggested we just fry it so that when we got to the beach, we could eat right away since he was already hungry it was already 12 PM and he hadn’t had lunch. So we convinced him to have a little lunch first, even just small bites to fill his tummy a bit. Thankfully, he agreed to eat.
Lavester and I took turns frying the fish.

Aside from the fish, we had sliced spices ready for the sauce later. We didn’t put vinegar and fish sauce yet because it might spill during the trip.

We also had *lato* (seaweed).

Before frying the fish, of course, I added salt, and Lavester added *Magic Sarap* (a flavor enhancer).

Anyway, the rice was already cooked and ready.

Here are the finished dishes. While I was cooking, Lavester used tongs, which I wasn’t comfortable with, so I used a stainless steel ladle instead there were two of them.
And after all the preparations, we were finally ready to go.

Katrien’s sister was going to drop us off. So we packed everything we needed into the vehicle. And that was it we were on our way. We decided to swim at Odlot Public Beach again, just like before.
And that’s all for now, my dear Hivers! Thank you for reading!
