Oh My Goodness! Everything’s Happening at the Same Time

As I wrote in the title, many things are happening at the same time these days. First of all, the full moon is shining in the autumn sky. The moon is a little higher than the summer full moon. Yes, the full moon is always amazing and beautiful. It feels so nostalgic, as usual. However, my physical condition is greatly affected by the moon cycle, so my body feels very heavy these days.

The drilling project for our dry well is still ongoing. It’s not a simple or easy issue. Many crews have visited our place for this project. It’s been a month since we stopped having running water. Since we drilled a new well, the crews have postponed and rescheduled several times because of issues with their equipment. Finally, we could start checking the water today, and hopefully, we’ll be able to use it tonight. Yet, for drinking water, we need to wait a few more weeks until the test day. Until then, we have to get spring water or buy bottled water for drinking.

Additionally, the last construction day happened to be the same day I started my new job. It was a very important meeting, so I had to set up a temporary office in a different room from usual. In the usual office, there’s a breaker, so the construction workers needed to come in constantly. I couldn’t let them appear on camera, and the Wi-Fi connection in that room wasn’t stable, so it was hard to keep everything running smoothly. Fortunately, I didn’t have any major issues during the online meeting, and I was getting ready for my afternoon work.

Suddenly, my dog became very noisy and excited. I thought he needed to go outside to use the toilet, so I let him out the front door. He immediately ran to the corner of the yard, and then I saw a fox in front of him! Oh no!!! He started to chase and play with the fox. I mean, he didn’t actually want to fight; he was just overly excited. I guess the fox was a female, and she was scared. I tried to stop him, but he was too excited—and I was wearing room slippers! Finally, my husband took a break from his work and helped me stop him.

Unfortunately, the fox, terrified, ran under our shed and didn’t come out for a while. We had to wash our dog because he was so dirty and stinky. He looked like he was bleeding, so we had to check him carefully. I think it was actually the fox’s blood, possibly from her period, which explains why my dog was so excited. We took him to the vet for a rabies booster shot, just in case. Fortunately, the vet concluded that there was no serious concern after the checkup. It was a very expensive visit... but my dog looked so happy and goofy after getting all the attention from the vet and her assistants.

After my husband used a spray to encourage the fox to leave from under the shed, we haven’t seen her again. I felt sorry for her. She was so small and pretty. I’m sure she was very scared. Maybe she was drawn by the smell of the dead mice that came out from under our house while the construction workers were working there.

Before visiting the vet, my husband noticed that the well water had stopped during the test run. We tried to contact the well company, but they didn’t answer. After we came back from the vet, we noticed the water came out again, and then it stopped again. Finally, the well company contacted us and told us it was due to a pressure issue. I guess the well is okay.

Phew... our hearts were pounding all day today. Hopefully, we can have a normal day tomorrow! No more drama, please ;)

なんてこと！いろんなことが一度に起きてる！

タイトルに書いたとおり、最近は本当にいろんなことが同時に起こっています。まず最初に、秋の空に満月が輝いています。夏の満月よりも少し高い位置に見えます。やはり、満月はいつ見ても素敵で美しいですね。いつもながら、なんだか懐かしい気持ちになります。ただ、私は月の満ち欠けに体調が影響されやすくて、このところ体がとても重いです。

そして、干上がったので新しい井戸を掘る工事も続いています。単純な工程ではなく、たくさんの作業員のかたたちがプロジェクトのために作業してくれています。生活用水が止まってから、もう1か月になります。新しい井戸を掘ってからも、機材トラブルやスケジュール変更などが続き、やっと今日、水のチェックを始めることができました。うまくいけば、今夜から使えるかもしれません。ただ、飲み水として使えるようになるまでには、検査日まであと数週間かかります。それまでは湧き水を汲みに行ったり、飲料水を買ったりしなければなりません。

さらに、その最後の工事日がちょうど私の新しい仕事の初日と重なってしまいました。とても大事なミーティングがあったので、いつもとは別の部屋に仮のオフィスを作る必要がありました。いつものオフィスにはブレーカーがあるので、工事の人たちが頻繁に出入りしなければならず、カメラに映さないようにしなければならなかったのです。仮の部屋のWi-Fiが不安定で、接続を保つのが大変でした。それでも、なんとか大きなトラブルもなくオンラインミーティングを終え、午後の仕事の準備をしていたときのことです。

突然、うちの犬がやけに騒がしく、興奮し始めました。トイレに行きたいのかと思い、玄関から外に出してあげました。すると彼はすぐに庭の隅へ走って行き、その先に、キツネがいました！やばいと思った瞬間、彼はキツネに突進。戦いたかったわけではなく、遊びたかったようです。でも相手はおそらくメスで、怖がっていました。止めようとしたのですが、彼は興奮しすぎて聞かず、私はスリッパのまま…外に出ました。　結局、夫が仕事を中断して手伝ってくれ、なんとか止めることができました。

キツネは怯えて物置の下に逃げ込み、しばらく出てきませんでした。 犬は泥だらけで臭くなってしまったので、すぐに洗うことに。少し血がついているように見えたので心配しましたが、たぶんそれはキツネの血で、発情期だったのかもしれません。どうりで彼があんなに興奮していたわけです。念のため、動物病院へ連れて行き、狂犬病の追加ワクチンを打ってもらいました。幸い、検査の結果も問題なく、先生にも看護師さんたちにもたくさん構ってもらって、犬は上機嫌でした。

夫がスプレーを使ってキツネを小屋の下から追い出してくれた後は、もう姿を見かけていません。小さくて、とても可愛いキツネだったので、かわいそうに思います。きっとすごく怖かったのでしょう。おそらく、工事の人たちが家の下で作業しているときに出てきたネズミの死骸の匂いを嗅ぎつけて来たのかもしれません。

動物病院へ行く前、夫が井戸の水がテスト中に止まっていることに気づきました。井戸の会社に連絡しましたが、すぐには繋がらず…。帰ってくると水がまた出て、そしてまた止まり…。ようやく会社から連絡があり、どうやら圧力の問題だとのこと。井戸そのものは大丈夫そうです。

ふぅ…今日は本当に心臓が何度もバクバクしました。 どうか明日は普通の一日になりますように。もうドラマは十分です ;)
