Hello friends of Hive, welcome once again to my blog, this time I want to share with great enthusiasm one of the most fascinating architectural experiences I've had so far and of course I want to make you part of it. Some time ago I had the opportunity to participate in a guided tour called “Get to know Cesar”, an activity that I loved. This tour was in charge of Carlos Moreno, current director of the Theater. I found out about this incredible activity through the theater's social networks, I formalized my registration and waited anxiously for this wonderful day. ------- >Hola amigos de Hive, sean bienvenidos una vez más a mi blog, en esta oportunidad quiero compartir con mucho entusiasmo una de las experiencias arquitectónicas más fascinantes que he tenido hasta ahora y por supuesto quiero hacerlos parte de ella. >Hace un tiempo tuve la oportunidad de participar en un recorrido guiado llamado "Conoce el Cesar", una actividad que me encantó. Este recorrido estuvo a cargo del Licenciado Carlos Moreno actual director del Teatro. Me enteré de esta increíble actividad a través de las redes sociales del teatro, formalice mi inscripción y espere con muchas ansias este día maravilloso. -----  A small group of tourists and I met outside the theater at about 8 in the morning, I met people from Caracas, Mexico and Paraguay who were on vacation in Merida, it was something interesting and new for me, because so far I have traveled all the places on my own, with my family, but this time, I would live the experience alone with a group of friendly strangers. ------ >Un pequeño grupo de turistas y yo, nos reunimos en las afueras del teatro a eso de las 8 de la mañana, conocí personas de Caracas, México y Paraguay quienes se encontraban de Vacaciones en Mérida, fue algo interesante y nuevo para mí, ya que hasta ahora he recorrido todos los lugares por mi cuenta, junto a mi familia, pero esta vez, viviría la experiencia sola junto a grupo de amigables desconocidos. ----- ----- # Main façade of the Theater ##### Fachada Principal del Teatro -----  We started the tour admiring the main façade of the theater, which was restored recently and since then the theater holds weekly presentations and activities like this one, which allows to collect funds thanks to a small contribution of $ 1 from those who visit it. At the beginning, the guide told us about the history of this majestic building, which was founded in [1904](http://ula.ve/espacios-cultura-y-extension/692-teatro-cesar-rengifo-2), is the oldest work of the University of the Andes and one of the oldest in the city of Merida, is located in the University Complex of the Rectorate of the Andes, on 23rd Street between Av. 2 and 3, in the historic center of the city. The majesty of its façade invites you to look up and observe in detail its beautiful tower. A tower that in its beginnings was an observatory. This facade consists of three levels. On the second floor we observe three arched wooden doors, with beautiful decorative columns and moldings in relief, which reminds us of that classic and imposing architecture. --------- >Comenzamos el recorrido admirando la fachada principal del teatro, la cual fue restaurada hace poco tiempo y desde entonces el teatro mantiene presentaciones semanales y actividades como esta, que permite recolectar fondos gracias a un pequeño aporte de 1 $ de quienes lo visitan. >Al inicio, el guía nos contó acerca de la historia de este majestuoso edificio, el cual fue fundado en [1904](http://ula.ve/espacios-cultura-y-extension/692-teatro-cesar-rengifo-2), es la obra más antigua de la universidad de los Andes y una de las más antiguas de la ciudad de Mérida, está ubicado en el Complejo Universitario del Rectorado de los Andes, en la calle 23 entre Av. 2 y 3, en pleno centro histórico de la ciudad. >La majestuosidad de su fachada, te invita a mirar arriba y observar con detalle su hermosa torre. Una torre que en sus inicios fue un observatorio. Esta fachada consta de tres niveles. En la primera planta observamos tres puertas de madera en arco, con hermosas columnas decorativas y molduras en relieve, que nos recuerda esa arquitectura clásica e imponente. -----    In the central part we see a beautiful gallery of arched windows, which give much harmony to the building and above them cornices with beautiful details. ----- >En la parte central vemos una hermosa galería de ventanas en arco, que le dan mucha armonía al edificio y sobre ellas cornisas con bellos detalles. ------    At the top we have a beautiful two-story tower with a clock on each of its faces. Undoubtedly, this building has an elegant and majestic design. ----- >En la parte superior tenemos una hermosa torre de dos niveles con un reloj en cada una de sus caras. Sin duda, este edificio cuenta con un diseño elegante y majestuoso. -----     The guide tells us about the historical changes that the theater has had since its initial construction and showed us a view of the previous facade, where we can see the wonderful contrast between the two designs. The great thing about this tour is precisely to know all these details that you probably won't find on the internet. ------ >El guía nos cuenta acerca de los cambios históricos que ha tenido el teatro desde su construcción inicial y nos enseñó una vista de la fachada anterior, donde podemos ver el maravilloso contraste entre los dos diseños. Lo genial de este recorrido es precisamente conocer todos estos detalles que probablemente no encuentre en internet. ------  ------ ------- # Painters' Walk #### Paseo de los pintores -------  Besides admiring its beautiful facade, we managed to enjoy the Boulevard of the painters, one of the busiest and most beautiful boulevards downtown, as it is surrounded by beautiful architecture, with Spanish influence, if not the meeting point for artists, who exhibit their paintings in this place and also we usually see people playing chess, often in this street. In the middle of it we have the sculpture of the so-called Heroic Rector of the University of the Andes, Caracciolo Parra y Olmedo, a rector who thanks to his excellent work managed to build all these buildings that are part of the University of the Andes. ----- >Además de admirar su hermosa fachada, logramos disfrutar del Bulevar de los pintores, uno de los Bulevares más concurridos y hermosos del centro, ya que está rodeado de una arquitectura hermosa, con influencia española, si no que es el punto de encuentro de artistas, quienes exhiben sus pinturas en este lugar y también solemos ver personas jugando ajedrez, con frecuencia en estas calle. En medio de ella tenemos la escultura del llamado Rector Heroico de la Universidad de los Andes, Caracciolo Parra y Olmedo, un rector que gracias a su excelente labor logró que se construyeran todos estos edificios que forman parte de la Universidad de los Andes. -----    ------ ------ # Surroundings of the Theater #### Alrededores del Teatro ------ Before entering the theater, the guide gave us a tour of the different buildings that surround the theater and with which they are linked to each other. Here I had the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful garden of the Rectorate and of course nostalgia came to me, as I remembered my graduation and my time in this house of studies. These gardens have a great hidden function for the theater; later I will describe what it is. ----- >Antes de entrar al teatro, el guía nos dio un recorrido por los distintos edificios que rodean el teatro y con los cuales se encuentran vinculados entre si. >Aquí tuve la oportunidad de disfrutar del hermoso jardín del Rectorado y por supuesto la nostalgia vino a mí, ya que recordé mi graduación y mi paso por esta casa de estudios. Estos jardines tienen una gran función oculta para el teatro; más adelante les describiré cuál es. -----     Then we went to the archaeological museum which I had already had the pleasure of writing about and, from its second floor, we had a spectacular view of the theater tower, which is noticeable from afar thanks to its height. --- >Después accedimos al museo arqueológico del cual ya había tenido el gusto de escribir y, desde su segunda planta, logramos tener una vista espectacular a la torre del teatro, la cual se deja notar desde lejos gracias a su altura. -----    ---- ----- # Interior of the Theater #### Interior del Teatro ----- Una vez realizado todo el recorrido por los alrededores del teatro, llego el gran momento de conocer su interior. Al entrar simplemente quedé maravillada por todo el arte que rodea sus paredes. El teatro lleva el nombre de Cesar Rengifo, quien era un pintor y escultor proveniente de Caracas, pero que dejo un gran legado en los Andes. Estas son algunas de sus obras, simplemente maravillosa. ----- >Once we had done all the tour around the theater, it was time to get to know its interior. Upon entering I was simply amazed by all the art that surrounds its walls. The theater is named after Cesar Rengifo, who was a painter and sculptor from Caracas, but who left a great legacy in the Andes. These are some of his works, simply wonderful. -----    We also find beautiful sculptures in cast iron and leather that represent the drama and comedy of theatrical art. ---- >También encontramos hermosas esculturas en hierro fundido y en cuero que representan el drama y la comedia del arte teatral. ----   ----- The architecture of the interior is just as beautiful, white walls that highlight the elegance of the moldings and the beautiful columns and beams. A mosaic floor and a warm and perfect lighting. ---- >La arquitectura del interior, es igual de hermosa, paredes blancas que destacan la elegancia de las molduras y de las bellas columnas y vigas.
