I have been on vacation to this country several times but this is the first time I have had the time to take pictures at this church. I have long been interested in the architecture of this church but this is the first time I have been able to stop by here. The location of St. Mary's Cathedral is near the palace of Sultan Abdul Somad and is right next to Dataran Merdeka Kuala Lumpur. The left and right sides of the church are modern buildings that tower high but the architecture of the church shows simplicity in the middle of the tall buildings as if finding an oasis in the desert.
This church building is very classic and precisely because it is very classic that I am very interested in this church. the place is also very comfortable. when I visited the church there was no service schedule but the church was open to the public. And I appreciate that and I still have to maintain my manners in this sacred place. you can see from the tiles used as the roof and the height of the building and compare it with the buildings around the church, it shows that this church building is very old. However, because this church is very well maintained, this church is still very beautiful, even the white paint color is also continuously renewed so that it does not look worn out and in front of this church there is a small garden that is very well maintained.
Windows with a high grid design are neatly arranged in the worship room and this is not just one window. In addition to making the atmosphere in this room more harmonious. The existence of windows like this can save lighting and the use of air conditioning because the wind can freely enter this room and the air in the room is also not humid. Wooden benches for the congregation are also neatly arranged and very simple and you can also see how the ceiling above it. The ceiling is not made of gypsum or PVC but the ceiling used is made of wooden planks painted white. Then above it there are small decorative lights whose designs have shown their age and several fans above for the comfort of the congregation and there is no air conditioning in the room.
Then entering the small library in the church we can learn the history of how the church was formed. and in this room there are also staff who live to guard and maintain this church. the room is very comfortable and here I can just see the air conditioning. And in this room it already looks modern as if it has just been renovated with white transparent glass doors. There is also a service schedule for the St. Mary Cathedral church.
And because this church is a bit classic, it is reinforced again with the shape of the church entrance with a curved model made of brown boards. then on the door there is a distinctive carving. The outer walls of the church have been fully cemented but there are also some parts that are deliberately left with a pure brick design that is varnished to make it shiny. I found this brick wall in the church library room.
And I like this place. and because this church is located next to Dataran Merdeka so the wind that blows is very free here. If you come to Kuala Lumpur, come to this church. my respects Tomi Diwirja, Indonesia
