Hidden Beauty in Shadows and Reflections

Happy Wednesday Hivers! If we only took the time to be truly observant of our surroundings, we’d notice so many beautiful things. For example, the pleasant chirping of birds, the soothing sound of flowing water that relaxes the mind, the calming greenery that rests the eyes, and so much more. However, because of the fast-paced life we live, we often fail to notice these things, our minds too occupied with personal and job responsibilities even as we pass by them. Sometimes there are things we don’t notice right away because our focus is elsewhere, and you only realize their beauty later on, like these shadows and reflections I’m about to share with you. I’ve been accompanying my mom to the mountains for a long time to visit her siblings. Along the way, there’s a clear pond we always pass before reaching my uncle’s house. But despite all those trips back and forth, I never once noticed the beautiful reflection in it. On our last visit with my family, we spent more time at my uncle’s house, so we weren’t in a rush to walk back. My siblings and I were strolling slowly, laughing together as we chatted. Then, as we walked at that unhurried pace, the pond caught my attention, I saw the stunning reflection of the coconut trees on its surface. Without wasting a moment, I grabbed my phone and started taking photos. ##  ## This second reflection I’m sharing is of a sunset. While I was on vacation in Leyte, I developed the habit of spending time by the shore every morning and afternoon, walking barefoot along the beach. I loved the feeling of the pebbles pressing gently against my feet. One afternoon, while walking, a beautiful sunset caught my attention. At first, I took the photo purely because of the sunset itself. But when I later checked the shot, I realized how stunning its reflection on the sea was. God’s creations truly have a beauty beyond compare. ##  ## When my mom told me she had discovered a nice spot somewhere by the sea in Hilongos, I got excited because she said it was really beautiful. We arrived at the place around 4 PM, and the sun was still quite hot, so we had to use an umbrella to protect our skin. While I was taking photos of the lovely view, I noticed our shadows—mine and my mom’s. Can you spot where our shadows are? ##  ## After taking several photos, I was browsing through them when one particular shot caught my attention—the reflection of the trees in the sea. There are so many beautiful things around us, yet so often, we fail to notice them. Sometimes, we just need to open our eyes a little wider to truly see and appreciate them.
