My life has been pretty hectic today! (well, according to my usual modest standards). It included a short 40-min photoshoot session for my new stamps in the morning, before I headed to my office for usual dull duties (I gotta make use of the best sunlight while it's available!), then performed a few Herculean feats in said office during the full-day-job, in the evening had a phone call with my wife and heard some very funny news about our young cat, while walking along the evening embankment with views of the cruiser Aurora and singing along to Leo Cohen kissing my soul thru my headphones; after I came back home late in the evening I cooked a simple dinner an had another important phone call from my friend - we talked out a multi-step deal on eBay through his third friend for an extremely important vintage photograph I wanted to obtain (buying stuff abroad and finding a way to transfer money to the seller from plastic that became cancelled since 2022, and to deliver it to Russia -- all this turns into a really complicated quest! even comparable to some of the tricky missions in Fallout 2, if you understand what I mean). And after having supper I paid for a dozen more stamps lots (domestic shipping this time, no problems - except for the agonizing 2-week wait pause for the damn Russian postage snail mail). Also, I downloaded 4 music albums that all of a sudden I had desire to listen to; also today I came across one of Danny Clinch's beautiful photos from 1994 at his site, put it into Topaz Photo AI for doing an intelligent upscale; found out that my version stopped working, and downloaded a new version of this wonderful software, indispensable for a digital archaeologist and history enthusiast like me, tinkered with said photo, and put it aside for later. You ask me - how could I fit all this into one day? The honest answer: I don't know! Maybe there happened some kind of local aberration of time? Well, I dont complain, as it became one of the best days I've had in a while.
Congratulations to those who who got to this place. TL;DR - this is not about you! you are my hero... and you get a prize: two of the morning photos. I don't have time to write a story about my new stamp acquisitions (considering all the above - you probably understand why it is so )))))
When I photographed one of the Australian stamps with King George V, I got a wonderful effect from the shadow, from the "I see faces" series. And I immediately decided to share this photo with you, dear friends, and in this wonderful community. I bet - you have never seen SUCH A SHADOW here before! (and to be honest, I have never seen anything like this in my life!)
Моя жизнь сегодня была чертовски насыщена! (ну, по моим обычным стандартам). День уместил в себя небольшую фотосессию для моих марок, перед тем как я отправился в офис на полный рабочий день (надо пользоваться лучшим солнечным светом пока он доступен!), совершил в офисе несколько подвигов аналогичных дюжине Геракловых; пообщался по телефону с женой и узнал новости про нашего кота; погулял по вечерней набережной с видами на крейсер Аврора, подпевая поющему у меня в наушниках Лео Коэну; сделал важный телефонный звонок другу и договорился о многоходовой покупке на eBay через третьего друга одной крайне важной для меня старинной фотографии (купить что-то зарубежом, найти способ перевести деньги продавцу с недействующей зарубежом пластиковой карты и доставить в Россию -- превращается в настоящий квест! может быть даже сопоставимый с некоторыми квестами из Фолаута-2...); потом пришел домой, сготовил себе ужин и оплатил еще дюжину лотов, мои очередные покупки марок (на этот раз только domestic shipping, никаких проблем - кроме мучительного 2-недельного ожидания улиточной почты).
Кроме того я скачал 4 музыкальных альбома, которые мне внезапно захотелось послушать; скачал с сайта Дэнни Клинча одну из его красивых фотографий 1994 года, поместил ее в Topaz Photo AI, выяснил что моя версия перестала работать, скачал новую версию этого прекрасного софта незаменимого для цифрового реставратора и всякого любителя истории вроде меня, повозился с оной фотографией еще, и отложил на потом. Вы спросите меня - как можно уместить все это в один день? Честный ответ: не знаю! какая-то локальная аберрация времени. Но - приятная! Один из лучших дней бывших у меня за последнее время. Да, и кстати: поздравляю всех тех, кто добрались до этого места. TL;DR - это не про вас! вы мой герой... и получаете приз: две из упомянутых утренних фотографий. У меня нет времени написать рассказ о своих новых марочных приобретениях (учитывая все вышесказанное - вы наверное понимаете, почему так ))))) Когда я фотографировал одну из австралийских марок с королем Джорджем V, то получил замечательный эффект от тени, из серии "вижу лица" - и сразу же решил поделиться этим фото с вами, дорогие друзья, и в этом замечательном комьюнити. Готов побиться об заклад - ТАКОЙ ТЕНИ здесь вы ещё не видели! (а я, честно говоря, и вообще вижу подобное в первый раз в жизни!)
