This time I have come to participate in another splendid [contest](https://peakd.com/hive-180569/@plantpoweronhive/your-veggie-shopping-pineapples) about vegan shopping, this time the theme is pineapple, a tropical fruit that I love for its taste, for its smell, for its exotic appearance and of course for its properties that give it multiple health benefits. Well, this week I didn't have pineapple at home, so I took advantage of Alan's medical appointment yesterday, Friday, to buy some on my way back home.
On the way I came across several fruit street vendors but the only one I saw selling pineapple was a stand that sold it served in glasses. That was not what I was looking for. I don't like to buy unshelled fruit on the street because there is a lot of risk involved. Yes, I know, there are risks every day and everywhere, but I think that some problems can be avoided. So, I pass by but first I take a picture.
In a small but well-stocked fruit shop I see pineapples. That's where I stop. I like what I see. They look very nice pineapples, in that simple store attended by two very nice ladies, who I think are mother and daughter.
The street and sidewalk in front of the fruit shop is higher than the store. Look at Alan, my youngest son, who is downstairs and you can see the difference in levels between the fruit shop and the street. I can see and touch up close the pineapples, which are hanging and look very pretty.
There are large, medium, small, yellow, green and combined yellow and green parts pineapples. What I like is that they look fresh fruit in this place and the pineapples look good.
When I look for pineapples I look at color and size, especially when I want to use it for eating, because yellow and big are sweeter. When they are very green and small they can be less sweet.
There are yellow pineapples that are very ripe and should be checked for soft brown parts, or holes that may be a sign that the pineapple is not in optimal condition.
There are two prices for pineapples in this fruit shop. They have them at 6 thousand Pesos (COP) each and others at 5,000 a kilo.
After looking around, I finally choose one that looked nice. It's just that you have to check very well before choosing, because I wanted a yellow and good one.
My pineapple cost me 6,000 Colombian Pesos. That is equivalent to 1.53 Dollar. I bought one of those that are sold by the unit and not by the kilo.
I think I made a good purchase. This pineapple, I will use it for a smoothie and if I want to keep some of it, I will keep the pieces without the peel in the freezer.

Bueno, esta semana no tenía piña en casa, entonces aproveche la salida de ayer viernes, a una consulta médica de Alan, para comprar cuando venía de regreso a la casa.
En el camino me encontré con varias ventas ambulantes de frutas pero la única que vi de piñas era un puesto que la vendía servida en vasos. Eso no era lo que buscaba. No me gusta comprar frutas sin cascara en la calle porque se corre mucho riesgo. Si ya se, riesgo se corre todos los días y en todas partes, pero pienso que algunos problemas se pueden evitar. Así que, paso de largo pero antes tomo una foto.
En una frutería pequeña pero muy surtida veo piñas. Allí es donde me detengo. Me gusta lo que veo. Se ven muy bonitas las piñas, en esa tienda sencilla que atienden dos señoras muy amables, que creo son madre e hija.
La calle y la acera al frente de la frutería está más alta que la tienda. Miren a Alan, mi hijo menor, que está abajo y se ve la diferencia de niveles entre la frutería y la calle. Yo puedo ver y tocar de cerca las piñas, que están colgadas y se ven muy bonitas.
Hay piñas grandes, medianas, pequeñas, amarillas, verdes y combinadas con partes amarillas y verdes. Lo que me gusta es que se ven frescas las frutas en este lugar y las piñas lucen bien.
Cuando busco piñas me fijo en el color y en el tamaño, especialmente cuando quiero usarla para comerla, porque amarillas y grandes son más dulces. Cuando están muy verdes y pequeñas pueden ser menos dulces.
Hay piñas amarillas que están muy maduras y hay que revisar que no tenga partes blandas de color marrón, ni orificios que pueden ser señal de que la piña no está en optimas condiciones.
Hay dos precios para las piñas en esta frutería. Tienen a 6 mil Pesos (COP) cada una y otras a 5.000 el kilo.
Luego de mirar, finalmente elijo una que se veía bonita. Es que hay que revisar muy bien antes de elegir, porque quería una amarilla y buena.
Mi piña me costó 6.000 Pesos colombianos. Eso equivale a 1.53 Dólar. Compré una de las que se venden por unidad y no por kilo.
Creo que hice una buena compra. Esta piña, la usaré para un batido y si deseo conservar una parte, guardaré en el congelador los trozos sin cascara.
Ahora seguimos nuestro camino, deseando llegar a la casa después de estar casi todo el día por fuera. Gracias por acompañarme a comprar mi piña 🍍
