Procrastination has finally paid off for me ~~being lazy~~!! Not writing my travel posts means I have a collection of brochures, leaflets and maps stacked up at home. I always pick up information from places I visit so I can use them as reference when I write my travel posts. Often I notice they contain information that isn't available on the internet and they're very handy if I forget details from the guided tour. Once I'm done with the post, they go in the bin, but not surprisingly, I have information from over two years go. Yes, that's how long it takes me to write my travel posts, in fact even longer for some places. I still haven't written about Petra in Jordan from 2014!!!
Taiwan, March 2023
During my last trip to Taiwan in early 2023 I went to Alishan, one of the most famous tourist spot in Taiwan, and somewhere that I hadn't gone during the whole 4 years I was living out there. Ali is the name of the mountain range and shan means mountain. The area is most famous for its beautiful scenery, including watching the sunrise which I foolishly did by getting up at 3am. Luckily I got to see it, so it wasn't a wasted effort. There's also the famous forest railway. That itself is a feat, considering Alishan is over 2000m ASL. This is one of those trips that deserves proper time and effort to write, hence I still haven't got round to it.
During the same trip to Taiwan, I went to an exhibition called Fly me to the moon and back. It is to commemorate Tom Chang, a well know artist and music producer who tragically died in a car crash at 31 years old in 1997. I found out about the exhibition on the very last day and luckily it wasn't far away. I'm so glad that I went because some of his songs are still very popular nowadays.
Hive Bee Con Oct 2023
In Oct 2023 I went to Krakow for the Hive Been Con meet up. During that trip, I did a day trip to Tarnow, it's a beautiful little city. I stopped by a cafe in the afternoon, it was located inside a tram carriage, and the most amazing thing is that afterwards, I found out the beautiful murals on the carriage was painted by our very own @foggymeadow. What a coincidence!
After HiveBeeCon, I went to Warsaw and Latvia. I'm trying to think what Warsaw Castle was like, I have no recollection of it, must dig out my photos. At Latvia, I went to the Museum of Occupation, a stark reminder of why we have to stop the bully Putin invading Ukraine.
Porto, Portugal, March 2024
The Palacia da Bolsa is a beautiful building in Porto, it used to be the stock exchange in the old days, and during my guided tour I was actually taking notes because some of the facts were so interesting. I hope I still have my notes somewhere.
USA road trip, May 2024
I went to many National Parks during my road trip, they are very good value for money. The annual ticket only costs $80 for the vehicle and they have excellent material for visitors. So professional. Badlands, is my favourite national park, another one that I want to spend more effort and time in crafting a good post it deserves.
Likewise, the state capitol buildings I went to were also very informative. I posted about the Colorado State Capitol building here, but I can't remember why I didn't bin the leaflets afterwards like I normally do.
Split Hive Fest, September 2004
Split HF doesn't seem like that long ago, and the next one is coming up soon. During one of the spare days in Spilt, I went to Klis Fortress with @zirochka and @delishtreats and their other half. They've both posted about the trip but me being me, still haven't. The fortress was just a short bus ride up the mountain, and the site and surrounding view is very impressive.
Cruise trip, November 2024
Last November, I was on a cruise that started at Athens. I was in town for a few days before the cruise and of course went to the Acropolis, and the Acropolis Museum. I've posted about the latter here but still not about the actual Acroplis yet
One of the other cruise stop was at Civitavecchia, about an hour away from Rome. That's where most of the cruisers will go for the day. I had been before and didn't fancy going again and found a little town called Tarquinia, famous for Etruscan Necropolis, a burial site dating back to the 7th BC. These burial sight are not only old, but also decorated with a lot of paintings in the burial chambers. It was such an eye opener, something that I'd never seen before.
The final stop on my cruise was at Barcelona, a city I've been to a few times already. It was Sunday, raining a little, and I'd been traveling for two weeks already so wasn't really too bothered with doing more sight seeing. Then I came across an archeological site called El Born in the middle of the city. It dates back to the Roman times had been covered up and forgotten for centuries.
So many travel posts that are waiting to be written, and this is just a small selection. I'd better get my skates on as I have another trip coming next week 😊
