Brisbane city hall is right in the middle of city and is in front of King George square, it was built between 1920 and 1930. There is concert hall inside, a small museum and has a free clock tower tour.

Inside this City Hall the foyer is quite grand with a lot of marble. The ceiling is pretty impressive too.

The small museum just had a few photos and details of when it was first built and opened. There was some information of all the lord mayors over the years too. As it is our third level of government and we live just outside this area in a different council area, it is hard to keep up with it all.

I didn’t know this place had a concert hall. It looked pretty good but I am not sure how often it gets used.

I used to work on old lifts like this, it brings back a lot of memories. In the old days they used to just have a lift operator sitting in there all day and you could go up and walk around by yourself. The viewing area is very small. Now you have to book a free tour well in advance and the lift driver acts as a tour guide. I remember checking it out the old way by myself when I first moved to Brisbane as a young Electrical apprentice. The views from the old clock tower are not that good any more because the all the new city buildings are much taller and block lots of the view. I suppose in it day it would have been a lot more impressive.
