Malmo, Sweden.

We had one day spare on our short 3 week, 4 country, 5 parkrun event trip mid June 2025. We were back in Copenhagen, Denmark where we started from, just trying to take it easy before the long flight home. We had already had a pretty good look around Copenhagen and were wondering what else we could easily visit. Another country seemed out of the question because in Australia another country is so very far away but in this part of the world it can just be a short train ride. There is this cool bridge that goes all the way from Denmark to Sweden. I remember watching an international TV show on SPS channel in Australia, the bridge featured heavily in a few of the crime mystery shows. For about 40 Australian Dollars or 200 DKK we could get a return ticket to Malmo Sweden. Malmö is pretty famous in our parkrunning circles as you used to be able to do an easy double on special events days but unfortunately Malmö was getting swamped with parkrun tourists and it has now stopped running the special events. We might not be able to do the parkrun, on this trip, but we could do a train ride on this famous bridge and have a walk around town.

So with all the hype, I was keen to check it out first hand on the last full day of our summer European trip. It was good to zip from Copenhagen airport to Malmö in under 30 minutes but there was not a lot to see from the train other than a lot of steel structures and a wind farms as the train is on the lower level and the cars above.

Malmo had lots of interesting things to see, they have one of the 16 Knotted Guns scattered around the world.

I am always keen to check out an olden day local castle. This was not really what I was expecting to see. I suppose it is all about defensive capabilities and not how attractive they look.

I was not expecting to see an old submarine either but I suppose we were near a beach.

It was pretty cold and windy when we got to beach, the submarine would have come in handy. You can just make out the big bridge to Denmark in the back ground.
