Stanton Drew Stone Circles, Bristol England.

We were staying with a friend of @consciouscat in Portishead in Bristol. It was only a short three week trip to pick up a few special parkrun events and visit a few friends and family. We were covering a lot of ground there are many great things to see in this part of the world but we needed some easy days as well, some where we were not on the go all the time. Our friends suggested checking out the stone circle. I thought they meant Stone Hinge which was not far away. I had been to Stone Hinge thirty odd years ago and it was good but I was not sure I needed to go again. This Stone Circle was not the famous Stone Hinge, it was a lot smaller, closer and best of all not as expensive. It was just sitting in a local farm paddock and they were just asking one pound entry fee as a donation for the local land owner. I was interested to find out a bit of the history, I had no idea that there was so many of these ancient circles. It was interesting to read that the local community living here thousands of years ago probably organised to transport these decent sized stones from Wales along the nearby river. It sounded like the circles where then used as meeting points for the community and were even set up to help predict the seasons by lining them up with the stars in the night sky.

There are lots of other theories about these places too. One being they are built on magnetic ley lines. We saw somebody meditating in the middle of the circle when we arrived but I did not experience any time travel or receive any magical powers.
