Good evening travelers! Happy Thursday to all of you. I continue touring my city to show you each of its corners full of history, cultural heritage and of great value to us Zulianos.  The San Francisco de Asis Convent is one of the oldest buildings in the city of Maracaibo in Venezuela, its construction was officially completed in the year 1730 and was the headquarters of the Franciscans who came to the city at that time, in 1891 was the headquarters of the University of Zulia important house of study in the region and although it was later used as a college and then as a convent is currently a Catholic church.    The external facade of the Convent is painted in white and yellow has some details like two entrance doors being one the biggest, predominant and with relief to its surroundings on this door it has two small windows and in the tip of its roof a cross, the other tower has another door of smaller size several wooden windows of different diameters until arriving to its tip with some details that seem to be some columns to sustain each segment of the same one.   Once inside the convent, several religious figures could be observed such as Jesus the Nazarene inside a niche specially for him and covered with artificial flowers, St. Joseph next to the Divine Child on a table, the Sacred Heart of Jesus near a picture of Jesus of Mercy and St. Francis to whom the parishioners render devotion.     Some ancient details such as the wooden ceiling and chandeliers have been preserved over time, the windows are from medieval times, the confessionals perfectly preserved also between each window were the Stations of the Cross, the area corresponding to the choir is also wooden and is supported by bars and disused, its floor is made of bricks is truly a trip back in time.           Almost reaching the altar were some very striking images of St. Peter and St. Paul on cherubs and surrounded by colorful flowers around them, as they would be celebrating their solemnity.   The altar has a huge frame with two brick columns and in the background in its highest part is Jesus Christ and in another structure his Patron Saint Francis of Assisi in a small picture that stood out for its colored lights.    For me it was a wonderful experience to be able to find for the first time this religious temple with its doors open since the Eucharist is rarely celebrated in it due to its age but it was definitely a great gift that life gave me and I could not stop enjoying all the details that were inside. --- Photographs taken with a Samsung Galaxy A22. El Convento San Francisco de Asís es uno de los edificios más antiguos de la ciudad de Maracaibo en Venezuela, su construcción fue terminada oficialmente en el año 1.730 y era sede de los franciscanos que llegaron a la ciudad en esa época, en 1.891 fue sede de la Universidad del Zulia importante casa de estudio en la región y aunque fue usado posteriormente como un colegio y luego como convento actualmente es una iglesia católica.
La fachada externa del Convento está pintada en blanco y amarillo tiene algunos detalles como dos puertas de entrada siendo una la más grande, predominante y con relieve a su alrededor sobre esta puerta tiene dos ventanas pequeñas y en la punta de su techo una cruz, la otra torre posee otra puerta de menor tamaño varias ventanas de madera de distintos diámetros hasta llegar a su punta con algunos detalles que parecen ser unas columnas para sostener cada segmento de la misma.
Una vez en el interior del convento se podían observar diversas figuras religiosas como Jesús el Nazareno dentro de un nicho especialmente para el y cubierto de flores artificiales, San José junto al Divino Niño sobre una mesa, el Sagrado Corazón de Jesús cerca de un cuadro de Jesús de la Misericordia y San Francisco a quiénes los feligreses le rinden devoción.
Algunos detalles antiguos como el techo de madera y candelabros han estado preservados en el tiempo, las ventanas son de la época medieval, los confesionarios perfectamente conservados además entre cada ventana se encontraban las estaciones del Vía Crucis, el área que corresponde al coro también es de madera y se encuentra sostenido de barrotes y en desuso, su piso es de ladrillos es verdaderamente un viaje al pasado.
Casi llegando al altar se encontraban unas imágenes bien llamativas de San Pedro y San Pablo sobre querubines y rodeados con flores de colores a su alrededor, ya que celebrarían su solemnidad.
El altar posee un enorme marco con dos columnas de ladrillos y en el fondo en su parte más alta se encuentra Jesucristo y en otra estructura su Patrono San Francisco de Asís en un cuadro pequeño que resaltaba por sus luces de colores.

Para mi fue una maravillosa experiencia poder encontrar por primera vez este templo religioso con sus puertas abiertas ya que las Eucaristías se celebran pocas veces en ella por su antigüedad pero definitivamente fue un gran obsequio que me dio la vida y no podía dejar de disfrutar de todos los detalles que se encontraban en su interior.
