I made it to California! This trip included bus rides, two flights, another bus, a train, and a chatty car ride with my sister. During my travels I finished one novel, watched a few movies, and got to meet a really nice & interesting person who recomended me a bunch of books Iβd never heard of before.

Also: I brought a backpack full of zines with me. Would you like to check them out?

Each time I travel from my current home of Argentina to where I grew up in California, I try to bring a bunch of zines to restock my [Etsy store](https://www.etsy.com/shop/CalendulaCraft). Selling zines is definitely not a money making adventure. To me it is more about making art and hopefully covering my expenses by making some sales too. Also, I love to share the zines for free by giving them to the people I meet along the way. Sometimes I drop them off in little free libraries too.

In the past decades I have created dozens of zines. A lot of them are a bit embarrassing now. So many of the zines that I have created were important to my journey but just don't represent who I am now. The handful of zines that you see here, however, I can say I am proud of.

I share about zines quite a bit here on HIVE but, just in case you aren't familiar with the term, let me share with you my definition.
## What is a zine?
A zine is a self-published booklet. Usually zines are made by hand with paper and written out by hand. But, these days there are plenty of artists who prefer to create digital zines. I like to type out the words of my zines and add a lot of my own photography in a collage-like fashion.

Here is my most recent zine called [Mystical Homestead](https://www.etsy.com/listing/4335249360/mystical-homestead-a-perzine-personal?ref=shop_home_active_1&frs=1&logging_key=b2c993ed47afecf43b5a7fc355fc6caf504b53d9%3A4335249360). It is a personal zine about my own life with articles on a bunch of random topics, loosely related because they all have to do with the season of fall.

This particular zine is also discusses the importance of creating physical art. And that is the amazing this about zine culture. Even despite the rise of social media & short form content **people are still making zines**. Maybe even more than ever.
It is an amazing time to be a zinester!
