Hello, beer lovers! 🍻

Hot, hot, hot! This heatwave keeps going and going. Even shade is no longer a solution, only a cooled caravan with air conditioning.
I even avoided beer for a few days and drank only water with ice.
But today, for 424 #beersaturday, I have beer.

Two well-chilled bottles await me in the refrigerator, one Belgian and one Croatian. I will gladly empty them and share the cold beer experience with you.

First, the one with less alcohol.

Babau Schwarzbier

Brewed by Bruman, Buzet, Croatia.
Bottle, 0.33 l, alcohol 5.1% ABV, IBU 25. Dark lager style.

What do the Master Brewers say?

Unfiltered, unpasteurized dark lager beer.
Roasted coffee, dark chocolate, and toasted bread flavors come from a combination of specialty malts. Without the typical sharpness of dark styles. Lighter body and bitterness.

The beer is dark, almost black, with little foam that quickly disappears. It goes down smoothly, and I can taste the bitterness of roasted malt, chocolate, and toast in my mouth. The sweetness is more in the background, but you can still sense the nuances.
The bitter aftertaste lingers for a while.

Fresh and drinkable beer, a good dark lager, maybe I should drink it in the morning instead of coffee :)
But this is all I have, I got it here in Novalja at the Plodine store, reasonably priced at €1.90. This is the third beer from the Bruman brewery; they have three others that will come later, but I think this brewery might soon become one of my favorites. Well, we'll see.

Petrus Trippel

Brewed by Brouwerij De Brabandere, Harelbeke, Vlaams Gewest Belgium.
Bottle, 0.33 l, alcohol 8%, IBU 26. Belgian Dubbel Dark.

What do the Master Brewers say?

Recently renewed and already rewarded at its first beer competition. Petrus Tripel blends the best of the past and present. Think fruity notes and a light bitterness thanks to the dry-hopping that you simply must taste! The whole secondary fermentation in the bottle gives the beer a refined sparkle in the chalice. BEST TRIPEL 2024 AT WBA.

The beer is golden in color, with little foam, perhaps because it's very cold. It smells of honey and another spice. It goes down quickly and smoothly, with a mild bitterness of hops, the sweetness of malt, and elegant nuances of flowers, herbs, and honey. Everything is very harmonious.
However, the aftertaste disappears quickly.

A very drinkable beer! High alcohol content, but you don't feel it at all. Elegant and refined flavors, I'm not surprised it won an award. This is the last one from the Petrus Box I bought at Lidl.

Now I'll have to start looking for something new slowly. The fridge is now empty except for a few local industrial beers. But it's so hot, 39 degrees Celsius in the shade, that I mostly drink water with ice. Don't tell anyone! :)
