A few months ago, I decided to take a step outside my comfort zone and join the yoga classes included in my gym membership. To be honest, I initially signed up for the gym because of the cardio machines and strength training equipment, but little did I know that Tuesdays and Thursdays would soon become the highlights of my week—thanks to yoga.
What makes it even more exciting is that the yoga class comes right after a zumba dance session. Imagine this: a high-energy, sweat-dripping cardio party followed by the calm and grounding energy of yoga. It feels like the perfect balance—shaking out all the stress through dance, then resetting the body and mind with deep stretches and mindful poses.
At first, I wasn’t very flexible. Even the simplest poses like Downward Dog and Child’s Pose felt like a struggle. But the beauty of yoga is that it’s not about perfection—it’s about progress. Week after week, I noticed small improvements. My Warrior Poses felt stronger, my balance in Tree Pose became steadier, and my body grew more open during Seated Forward Folds. Each session feels like my body is slowly thanking me for showing up.
What I’ve come to love most is how yoga is not just physical. It’s also about breathing, slowing down, and being present. Holding poses like Mountain Pose or simply resting in Savasana teaches me to appreciate stillness—a rare thing in our fast-paced daily lives.
Now, yoga has become more than just a workout routine. It’s my weekly reset, a time to tune into myself, and a reminder that progress doesn’t have to be rushed. Whether it’s learning to flow through Sun Salutations or simply enjoying a quiet moment on the mat, yoga has taught me patience, mindfulness, and gratitude for small wins.
I may still be a beginner, but one thing’s for sure—these Tuesday and Thursday classes have made yoga a part of my lifestyle, and I can’t wait to see how much more my practice will grow.
That's it for today's blog. See you in my next one!
Sending some love and light
Love, Jane
