Last week, our salary bonus was finally given to us, plus the announcement of salary increase. People got really hyped to the point that most of them filed vacation leave on Friday to spend time with their love ones after receiving the fruit of their hard work.
As for me, my first thought upon receiving my bonus is to treat my family for a simple dinner. I must admit, the dynamics of our family is quite different from that of a Filipino household. My parents are the ultimate and sole provider for our necessities here at home. They never required my working sister and I to share for our expenses. What they require, however, is our service in doing household chores and administrative tasks for our family business. So I didn't get the chance to treat them when I received my first salary years ago because I know they wouldn't appreciate it that much.
But this time, I thought of buying a simple dinner in Balai for dinner, since my family haven't tried their food yet. Besides, the restaurant is just across our office- very convenient.
This restaurant offers dishes rich in spices. Aside from the aesthetic interiors, one wouldn't expect their food to be mexican. Most of their menu has their famous garlic sauce.
I ordered their Shawarma chicken and rice Kebab, which has special sauce on it, plus a whole charcoal chicken with four kinds of sauce.
I opted for a take out since my family is too busy to dine in. We'd rather have a take out and eat at home.
I especially love their potato wedges dipped in the special sauce.
More than the delicious meal, I'm glad that my family enjoyed it. For the first time in a while, we ate dinner together.
