Hello everyone, I'm really excited to share this tutorial today. I decided to try out a crochet earring that has been trending for a while now and I enjoyed every step and most especially love how the earring looks. It is certainly a type of jewelry meant for ladies who like to make a statement.

Materials Needed

To create this beauty, you'd need:

  • Three different colors of yarn
  • 3.5mm crochet hook
  • Darning needle
  • A pair of scissors
  • Earring hoops.

Procedure

This earring is basically a collection of circles of different sizes. To get the different sizes, increases would be made on each row.

For the first circle, I started with a magic ring and a chain one. Like I always say, magic rings can be a bit complicated for beginners but with practice, it gets easy. The best way to check if a magic circle is done correctly is by dragging the tail and if it moves, then you have yourself a perfect magic circle.

Using my cream coloured yarn, I made sixteen double crochet stitches into my magic circle and joined both ends with a slip stitch. With that, I was done with the first row and the first part of the earring. You'd need two of these so go ahead and make another circle following the same steps.

Next, for the second and slightly wider circle, I made yet another magic ring and a chain one. Into the magic ring, I made sixteen double crochet stitches and closed up the circle using a slip stitch.

For the second row, I made a chain of two and then went ahead to make one double crochet stitch into the very next space. Into the space after this, I made two double crochet stitches together. In the next space, one double crochet stitch and in the next, two together. I alternated this pattern till I got to the very last space. To end the row, I made a slip stitch and chained one to secure and cut off my yarn.

For the third and largest circle, I used the darkest shade of brown. By now, you must have gotten the color pattern. Next, I made a magic ring and repeated the steps described above till I got to the second row. For the third row, I made a chain of two and then placed one double crochet stitch into the next space, another double crochet stitch into the next space and into the third space, I made two double crochet stitches together. I repeated this pattern; 1DC, 1DC, 2DC, till I got to the end of the row.

At the end, I made a slip stitch, chained one to secure and cut off my yarn and this was pretty much it. It was time to sew in the loose yarn before coupling everything together. I'm really judicious at sewing in my loose yarns/ends before coupling my projects these days because I learnt the hard way to always do so.

After sewing in all loose ends, I went ahead to couple the circles in a straight line using my darning needle and a strand of yarn. Note, I used the colour of the yarn below while joining. This means that while I was joining the cream and brown circles, I used a strand of the brown yarn and while joining the light and dark browns I used a strand of the darker brown. It's important to do this part carefully and neatly to avoid a rough finish.

The very last thing I did was to attach the earring hoops and this brought the earrings to life. I can't say how pleased I am with this particular creation. The earrings say a whole lot without uttering a single word.

What do you think of these crochet earrings? Would you like to add something of this sort to your collection? What colour combinations do you think would also go well? I'd love to hear all your thoughts and comments.
