AlphabetHunt letter F

Hi Folks, this is my second post in the Feel Good community. I enjoyed reading the posts last week and I learned a couple of things... like for example, most people are illustrating each word with more than a single photo, and also, talking a lot more about them than I did in my first post. This week the Alphabet Hunt is looking for the letter F and I have found a few examples!

Fernwood

I live in a neighbourhood of Victoria, British Columbia known as Fernwood. Funky Fernwood I call it... it's a cool old neighbourhood of Victorian houses and aging hippies.

My favourite local pub is the Fernwood Inn... located on Fernwood Road of course!

Folk Music

Passing through the Fernwood Square today I stopped for a while to listen to these two musicians playing. They weren't playing for money as you might expect, they were just playing for the enjoyment and they were very good! The guy on the left is playing a banjo and the one on the right is playing a mandolin - and switching to guitar now and then.

Here's another example: this flute player was playing something that sounded kind of medieval to me. A Flutist playing Folk music.

French Cafe

I don't know if it's a real French cafe or not... like if I ordered in French would they understand me?

I really didn't care however. I was just so thrilled to see the place had reopened and I could order coffee and sit outside at a table.

Family

Yes, Fernwood is for Families, just like the sign says!

Not only human families. Here is a lovely family of Mallard ducks. (Papa seems intent on enlarging the family... not in front of the chicks please! Doesn't mama look overworked enough as it is?)

Farm

P5300020.jpg

This is the city so don't expect to find acres of food growing but people do have gardens and some of them sell their produce. I noticed this little food box on the street where you can normally buy tomatoes or zucchini. There was no food available today but for the first time I caught on to a little joke here. This is on a street named Gladstone, and the Farm is called Happy Rock... Gladstone ~ Happy Rock... get it? :-)

Here's another food plant you might expect to find in a place called Fernwood: Fiddlehead Ferns are harvested as vegetables and they are a great source of antioxidants and omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids.

Signs with the Letter F on Fort Street

I went for a walk on Fort Street and as expected I found a wealth of signs for businesses that I thought would work well for this challenge.

Here's a restaurant I have not visited yet.

P5280033.jpg

First Edition rare books...

P5280037.jpg

he Blue Fox cafe... here's a place where people line up for hours to get in. I've been there a couple of times for breakfast, and it's very good!

Finally, I will finish with my favourite sign... the Frilly Lilly. Without further comment, an explanation of their business:

I hope you enjoyed this little photo-journey featuring the letter F.
