It's been a while since my last post in this community, and it's wonderful to see how it has grown and how more hivers have joined the activity of sharing their daily routes. Today I want to take you on a new short, 1.8 kilometer route in one of the most iconic areas of our city: the North Zone.
The route started at an emblematic place, the Plaza de Toros in Calicanto, and ended at the popular La Gran Feria Bakery, located on Las Delicias Avenue. This journey, although short, approximately 6 minutes, offers an interesting look at the urban structure of this area.
The highlight of this sector is its history. Calicanto, an urbanization dating back to the 1940s, is home to monuments of great cultural relevance, such as the Plaza de Toros, a replica of the famous Plaza de Toros of Seville, and the iconic Teatro Ateneo de Maracay. These spaces, in addition to being witnesses to the architecture of another era, continue to be key points for the cultural and social life of the city.
On the way, I also passed by the Santos Michelena Cultural Complex, home of the Agustín Codazzi Library and headquarters of the Aragua Symphony Orchestra, a place that reflects how cultural spaces are perfectly integrated into the urbanism of this area.
The northern zone is distinguished by its constant care, and during the Christmas season, the Christmas lights transform it into an ideal place for a stroll, which reinforces its historical and modern character.
