IN VIZULA. TEN DAYS AGO

@borjan · 2023-05-26 19:31 · hive-193212

I mean, maybe it wasn't exactly ten days ago. It could have been two weeks or just six or seven days ago. The camera I'm currently using while waiting for my usual Canon PowerShot SX60 to be repaired shows always the same date, the 1st of January 1980 in the JPEGs metadata.

The weather was cloudy and much colder than today. I mean, we have some real summer temperatures here right now while I'm writing this post. In the opening shot, you can see a hotel built in the late 90'. After a relatively short initial success, it was closed more than a decade ago. These days, I see that is being restored. It looks like the place will open again soon. Maybe even this summer.

Here you can see a friend that was there with me. Behind her, across the bay, you can also see the buildings on the seaside promenade, the most visited part of Medulin, my hometown. The place is still quiet but the tourist season is very near.

Vizula is a small peninsula near the harbor here in Medulin. All these photographs were taken there, in Vizula. Or from there. In this shot, you can see a relatively large building with some apartments for summer rental and a restaurant on the ground floor. The thing was finished recently. Two or three years ago. In the following photograph ...

... the focus is on the parasols, closed until the sun returns.

Here you can see the Rubia tinctorum plants that grew close to the trunk of one of the many pine trees of Vizula.

In this shot, you can take a more up-close look at some architectural elements of the hotel that started the post.

Here you can see a small tree that overlooks the bay and the harbor, and it looks a bit like an employee paid to stay there and stare at the sea the whole day.

Meanwhile ...

IMG_6416 malo.jpg

... a man in the excavator was shaping the terrain around the hotel that was called Arcus in the late 90' when was new and functional.

These things are made to park the bicycles, I think. I like the shape, that's why it ended up in today's post.

This vivid yellow detail was photographed closer to the sea. It looks like a painted stone that is put there to signal something. Or it was signaling something in some other place and then somehow ended up here on the muddy shore where its vivid color doesn't make much sense.

Nearby, in the shallows, a crab was feeding on the shrimp's carcass. The camera at my disposal isn't a great tool for capturing this type of scene, so the image is muddled like the mud of the bay, but I'm still glad to have taken this low-quality shot that illustrates the situation.

Here you can take another look at the harbor. I like the little boat shown in the foreground of this shot.

IMG_6437 malo.jpg

I was ready to go home when a truck accompanied by a group of workers joined the excavator behind the hotel ...

IMG_6440 malo.jpg

... so I decided to stay a few more minutes ...

IMG_6443 malo.jpg

... and take a few more shots.

AND THAT'S IT. AS ALWAYS HERE ON HIVE, THE PHOTOGRAPHS ARE MY WORK.
