Saturday, September 2, 2023 - 2000 Meter Row Benchmark Challenge - 2G - 60 minutes
E = Endurance S = Strength P = Power
It was only the second day of September and the Orangetheory Fitness braintrust hit us with the first benchmark challenge of the month and wouldn't you know it, it was the 2000 Meter Row Benchmark Challenge.
This young lady did a quick video on YT explaining it. It's a year old but the challenge has been around for years and I've done them all. ===> https://youtu.be/GXYvC-WuB48?si=gpVxtm3qGocnQ3e5
Although I'm more than three years removed from my personal record of 7 minutes and 17 seconds I've never done anything slower than my last row which was a few months after the car accident and with that said I've never taken longer than that 7 minute and 46 second mark and trust me I freaked out thinking I was going to take longer than 8 minutes that day.
I am realistice in believing that 7:17 is going to be tougher as I get older, but I'll be damned if I won't fight tooth and nail to stay under 8 minutes and I have since 2018 when they started documenting the challenge and today I was about six minutes faster than last time and finished at 7:37:74:
Today, Tiffany and I worked out at our home studio which is rare because we like to workout out at studios that are further out during the weekend, but it was bittersweet; because today was Coach Angeline's last day coaching at not only OTF Nona North but Orangetheory Fitness altogether as she is going to focus on her mobility fitness business.
The class started rough for me because my OTBeat was not working and I had to eventually use a loaner and it was necessary to use to document my benchmark challenge rowing participation.
Today was a switch template for the full body workout to allow for time spacing allowing the two groups of members to complete the 2000 Meter Row.
I burned 552 calories.
Used 20 and 40 pound dumbbells for the (weighted) excercises.
Not much running today because of the focus on the rowing but I did get in 1.45 miles and hit a 10 mile per hour for the last ALL OUT run.
Along with the 2000 meter row, I did hit a high of 376 WATTS OF POWER with a high of 12.7 rowing speed.
The Work:
Tread / Floor Block 1 - 13 minutes
• Buy-in: 0.3 mile push run

Row Block - 13 minutes
