Why I wrote Air
I wanted to make something that felt like breathing: not a song with a verse and chorus, but a space — a moment you can float in for a few minutes. Air grew out of that idea: one simple riff, looped and layered, then nudged into different colors with analog delay and a touch of overdrive. The result is slow-moving, spacious, and meant to feel like drifting through clouds.

Gear / signal chain

Guitar: Breedlove Atlas Series acoustic — warm, resonant, perfect for airy textures.

Looper: Boss looper (live looping) — the heart of the performance.

Drive: Ibanez Tube Screamer — set light, just to warm the tone.

Delay: Memory Boy analog delay — tape-like repeats that blur into atmosphere.

Bass texture: Korg Microstation synth — provided the low-end pads and bass notes.
Signal flow in brief: Breedlove → Tube Screamer (light gain) → Memory Boy → Boss Looper → interface/mic/PA. The Microstation bass was plugged into the looper as well.
How I approached the piece
My method was simple: start with a short, repeating motif that feels open rather than tight. Layer in harmonies, then let the delay and synth push the space outward. At times I leaned into simplicity — a single sustained chord with delay becomes its own landscape when repeated and re-harmonized on top.
When performing live with a looper, small choices matter: a different attack, slightly longer sustain, or letting a loop ring out naturally can change the mood. I tried to let the piece evolve without forcing it.

¿Por qué escribí Air?
Quería crear algo que se sintiera como respirar: no una canción con estrofa y estribillo, sino un espacio, un momento en el que puedas flotar durante unos minutos. Air surgió de esa idea: un riff simple, en bucle y capas, que luego se transforma en diferentes colores con retardo analógico y un toque de overdrive. El resultado es lento, espacioso y concebido para que te sientas como si flotaras entre las nubes.
La interpretación (notas breves)

Interpretada en vivo sin pista de acompañamiento; todo lo que escuchas se creó en tiempo real con un looper.

El objetivo era mantener el sonido orgánico: mínima edición, mínimos trucos de producción. Deja que los loops respiren.

Cómo abordé la pieza
Mi método fue simple: empezar con un motivo corto y repetitivo que se sintiera abierto en lugar de compacto. Añadir armonías en capas y luego dejar que el delay y el sintetizador expandieran el espacio. En ocasiones, opté por la simplicidad: un solo acorde sostenido con delay se convierte en su propio paisaje al repetirse y rearmonizarse.
Al tocar en vivo con un looper, las pequeñas decisiones importan: un ataque diferente, un sustain ligeramente más largo o dejar que un loop suene con naturalidad pueden cambiar la atmósfera. Intenté dejar que la pieza evolucionara sin forzarla.

Si buscas música de fondo para estudiar, descansar o sumergirte en ella, esta es para ti. Si la analizas a fondo, presta atención a las repeticiones de retardo y a cómo la línea de bajo del Microstation se mueve como una corriente lenta bajo la guitarra.
