This year hasn’t been the most successful for my photography, at least from my perspective. Between work commitments and the weather, I’ve barely managed to get out with my camera. I even booked a week-long photography holiday at the start of June, but only ended up using my camera once or twice. The skies were moody, which was nice, but most days were mainly dominated by strong winds and heavy rain.
So, last week I managed to get out to Surprise View in Derbyshire, only had a couple of hours there, but it was fantastic to be out in the middle of nowhere, from surprise view we walked down to Padly Gorge, the first time I'd been there but I so need to get back and have a good explore, although I am holding on for autumn for when the leaves turn red and brown.
So initially I went over to do some scouting for a milkyway shot that I have in mind, I've driven passed a rock fomation hundreds of times but never stopped to have a good snoop around them and work out some shots, so this time I did, as we were walking to the rock formation we saw what we thought was a lizard, but after a bit of research I am not thinking it was a great crested newt, although I still maybe wrong.
As we walked to Padley Gorge, there were loads of people there with their kids having a day out, it was a bit of a creche at the top of the hill, but it was great to see kids being kids, not stuck on their mobile phones or tablets and actually having adventures and exploring, it really did remind me of when my parents took me and my siblings out for summer days.
I have to say that the gorge is very picturesque, I love this little bridge going over the water, as you go into the woodland down the gorge, the sound of the flowing water down the numerous little waterfalls and birds singing is absolutely lovely, one of my favourite sounds.
I didn't have my tripod or filters, so I didn't get the chance to do any long exposures, but I am still pretty pleased with the shots I got, even though I'm not really one for woodland photography.
So only a few shots for todays post but I really do hope you like them.
