Let’s explore together with me today the beautiful city: BRIVE-LA-GAILLARDE ~ in FRANCE 🇫🇷 It is located in the department of Corrèze in the center/ south of France. I visited this beautiful medieval city last month while driving north 3500km. It was a rainy day on that Sunday in early June. Nothing was really open so we had the city centre for us alone… (almost haha - the way I like it)
Little health update; I am not recovered yet and taking it still very slowly… as I need my health to be ok-ish again. Seems like my body is still fighting me in many ways.
Back to exploring this city in la belle France. More information about Brive you find on Wikipedia here: Brive-la-Gaillarde and here: Brive tourisme!

Today’s photographic selection will be of 39 PHOTOGRAPHS Date : 1 June 2025 The Photographs in this post are taken with my iPhone. I will follow the time stamps on them. So it looks like you are experiencing my adventures on this walk to #discover everything what I saw, like the little #details seen through my eyes.
Location of the city of Brive la Gaillarde we find on the following screenshot of Google Maps :
After the person left with the umbrella I had a better change of capturing the sign of BRIVE. At this point it only drizzled a little bit.
The architecture of this old church is beautiful, a shame it was mostly covered in scaffolding. Good though they are restoring it. Here a small detail of the side of the church…
The first mention of a church there was in the 5th century. See for more information here: Collégiale Saint-Martin de Brive-la-Gaillarde.
Wandering through the small streets of Brive do look up. As you can find magnificent stone carvings higher up the building’s facades.
We reached a little square. It is beautiful even on a grey day.
A beautiful fountain ⛲️
We just wander and explore all the small streets and alleyways in the historical centre of the city.
Some houses are hidden and when you see the architecture of them you look better.
Wandering to the main ring street around the old centre we see even there some old architectural buildings, like this one. Beautiful.
Some spring flowers had to be captured of course to brighten up this rainy day.
Walking back into the centre our view. So lovely to be able to wander and not see a soul around.
This thin building caught my eye. Just look at the statues.
Let me show you closer by… holding up the balcony above.
I also found some old school murals on the side of some buildings. More streetart murals in a separate post one day.
Another fountain on the side of this large building.
Looking to the right I see some gnomes… do you?
Ok.. I zoom in a bit for you. Look what a cute little bunch on the corner of this shop.
More beautiful streets… imagine wandering around in the hustle and bustle during the hight of the summer. It will be lovely for tourists.
I even found a classic mini parked on one of the streets.
I used to have 4 classic mini’s from various build dates. Not at the same time though but throughout my adult life.
Some more magnificent stone carvings.
And another church in the city.
As we wander slowly back to our van… we see more stunning architecture all around us.
Stunning buildings. Wow… so well preserved.
We find a museum and walk through the open gate to check out the buildings and some details.
More information about it you find here: Labenche museum! It states;
The Hôtel Labenche was built around the middle of the 16th century, during the Renaissance, by a nobleman with local responsibilities granted by the King in terms of justice. His title "De la Labenche" gave its name to the building and thus, 5 centuries later, to the eponymous museum.
A little tree lined alley guides you towards a courtyard.
The arches…
The details all around. Look slowly and take it all in.
The figures above the windows.
I show you a few close ups… not all though. You have to explore them yourself one day… maybe… hehe
Walking towards the entrance gate again I see this lioness and her cub.
So cute.
It dates from 1934 as one can read.
Next to the sculpture we see this information sign about the buildings.
We wander further , are you still with me? Yes, great. I appreciate it. Let’s wander through this park.
I suddenly see something sticking out high above the trees, and no… not the buildings.
I meant this tree.
It is carved everywhere, on each branch that is reaching up.
Beautiful, isn’t it. Here a little detail.
And I end our walk together through a part of the city Brive at this beautiful tree.
…and here I say that’s all for today’s post my friends. Join me next time for more updates, adventures, #stories and photographs. Even my own artworks, once in a while, will come by. Thank you so much for looking, and reading.
