I get such a warm feeling, to see an early butterfly after our cold winter.
Hello there Painted Lady, thank you so much for bearing the messages of Spring to our hearts.
Nature's message was always there, and for us to see. It was written on the wings of butterflies - Kjell B. Sandved
It really felt like the Painted Lady (Vanessa cardui) was looking at me while she was sucking some nectar from the flower in the first picture. We discovered a new nursery, and maybe they hired the painted lady butterfly to welcome new clients :)
Like bees and other pollinating insects, butterflies are also pollinators, and you can see in here how the butterfly visits a variety of flowers to drink some nectar.
Now, as some of you know, I am not big on remembering flower names, as I even struggle lately to remember my own name :) But, my wife is much younger than me, and she still has an excellent memory. She even remembers that I forgot to buy her a chocolate 23 years ago. I didn't remember that it was her birthday, but women are like that to keep us on the straight and narrow path.
This one, below, I remember the name as the guy at the nursery told me that it is a Gazania from the Daisy family.
This lovely one is also a Gazania.
I think these are white roses.
Or maybe this one is a white rose.
I included some humor in the post, as a smile is always better than a scowl, so I asked the nursery salesman what would the price be of the butterfly. At first he was confused, because I kept my face very serious, but then when I started to smile he knew that I was joking. This is what sights, like the photos above, do to me, as I always feel in such a nice and lighter mood.
Just looking at the pictures, brought that feeling back to me and it makes me happy. Life is very serious nowadays, but if one spends time in nature, it always lifts up one's being. For nature tells it as it is, and there are no lies in it. Sadly, most everyone is struggling to get along and like the butterflies we flit around chasing after money. Someone said a caterpillar doesn't know that it will be a butterfly, and this is so true for me, as our bad moments can also turn into unexpected blessings.
Such is life.
