Last night a friend and I went for a walk in downtown Hamilton Ont. to do something we hadn't done in way too long! Wandering around with our camera's, no plan, no goals, just having fun shooting whatever we could come up with.
We met up on King Street and were immediately met with a nice sunset.
I thought about trying light trails with the street art on the vacant City Center mall. A project that when it is finished, will be the largest street art mural in the country!
When we got to the art, I spotted a spot on the top floor of a parking garage across the street and we went up. Shooting the skyline and finding the angle for light trails.
I was all set and just waiting for it to get darker , when two security guards came to tell us we couldn't be there. So we headed back down and got a nice reflection in a puddle of a bus going by and a bus going by some of the art.
Looping back around to King Street, we stopped in Gore Park. I thought about doing a light painting figure in front of the fountain, but it was too bright of a spot. So some more light trails it was! Continuing the light trails until we reached the Go Transit station.
This walkway above the road was very bright but I became set on doing light figures.
It worked but I wasn't satisfied with it. So we moved on to the side walk snapped more trails and tried an unsuccessful light figure.
This is when I spotted a cool spot for another figure that would work. An entrance for an apartment building. This was a strange one lol in the 3 minute exposure, about 5 people walked through the frame (all were so polite about it too). Having multiple people walking in a light painting frame was a first for me, but it turned out great!
After using a windowed corner of a business for another light trail shot, we went to a boarded up plaza that will soon be demolished. To try the last shot of the night, another light figure.
A great shot to end a great night! Life really needs to stop getting in the way of nights like these lol, I really miss them!
