With about 12 hours of rain, I decided to take the hike to Westcliffe falls in the west end of Hamilton Ont. This is a waterfall that I have visited and posted many times, but it becomes a whole new experience in the rain!
Starting on a washed out Chedoke trail, I reached the lower falls and knew this was going to be a great day for shooting!
On the left is the creek running from Mountview falls and on the right, from Westcliffe falls. The usual way I get to Westcliffe is to take the left and then cross over and head to the right. This can be very difficult or impossible with high water levels, but I decided to still go that way. If the water was too high, just go to Mountview (a less picturesque falls).
Making my way up the cascade, I knew I would get wet feet. But would be able to cross no problem! So I made my way through while taking in the beautiful vibrant look from the rain and lighting!
Finally making it to Westcliffe falls and the waterflow was perfect! I have seen it as just a trickle and also as a jet shooting out of the tunnel at the top. Today it had just the right amount of flow.
Unfortunately I could only utilize one angle because every other one that I tried, ended up washed out like this shot. The rain and mist of the waterfall made it very tricky lol.
I came out thoroughly soaked and a little muddy, and that just added to this awesome rainy day adventure!
