Greetings friends, this is my new entry for the @dswigle initiative where we are invited to report our shopping days, for this we must use the tag #marketfriday.

I live in the city of Maracay, in the North of Venezuela, in a sector far from the center of the city. At the beginning all this area was for residential use, but as time went by the main avenue was transformed into a commercial area, the houses changed their use and became commercial premises.

These are the stores that I visit day by day, they are very close to my house, I can walk away and it does not represent any effort to take the shopping to the house. Under normal conditions they are open from morning to late afternoon, but now because of the confinement measures they only work in the morning.

In these small shops we get the food and basic supplies to meet our needs for food, cleaning, and some hardware. Almost all of us know each other because our community is relatively small.

Because of how far we are from the distribution centers, prices here are much higher than in the center of the city, there are items that can cost up to 40% more than what we could buy about ten kilometers closer to the center.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, mobility has been very limited, public transportation has decreased, so most people are trying to buy the things they need right here, and that has led to the creation of new businesses. Today, almost all homes have been transformed into commercial premises.

The advantage we have is that there are no large crowds of people to do the shopping. Here in my area it is much easier to maintain social distance to prevent contagion.

This is the report of one of my shopping days, I thank @dswigle for the initiative. I invite everyone to participate, that way we get to know the different customs of the sites, use the tag #marketfriday to send publications of this kind.
Thanks for your time.
