On Monday morning I was up at 5:30AM and got my post up. I got a shower and got ready to go visiting. My #1 intern was coming to take me to see 2 friends who had each had major surgery recently.
She arrived around 9:30AM and we headed out to my first friend. It was drizzling as we drove north and west.
I had gotten my friend a t-shirt at the orchid show. She and I usually go together, but her surgery was 2 days before the show. I also got her a DVD of Babette’s Feast, a favorite of hers. We stayed awhile, about 45 minutes and left her to take a nap.
We drove north to my other friend’s house and as we turned off onto his road, it started to sleet.
He lives in his grandparents’ house. This is the stove his grandma cooked on before they got electricity. We visited with him for about 45 minutes and then got the water barrels from him.
He has water from a well and 5 days before his surgery, it froze. So I loaned him the 2 barrels to make sure he had water in the house. Two or three days ago, his well thawed and he has water again. So we loaded the 2 barrels in the back of the Subaru and headed home.

I had gotten the delivery of the extra T5 bulbs, so we opened the box and tried them out. One is pretty purple, the other white. She left after that and I sat down to rest.
It was a cold gloomy day and I ended up dozing on the couch watching David Attenborough’s Planet Earth.
I got both stoves going as it’s to be cold again and not get much above low 40’sF during the day on Tuesday.
I’m hoping my helper friend is better and can come on Tuesday morning. I have easy jobs for him, like running errands and watering house plants. I plan to work on estate stuff again. I also have laundry to do and a kitchen to clean up.
