I think if I was to go on Mastermind, my specialist subject would probably be mid-00's indie/emo/alternative rock. Between the years 2004 and 2010 my hunger for new music was insatiable. I was friends with a few people who were into the alt-rock scene at the time, and they were a constant source of new musical acts. While searching through my Google Play Music library for something to listen to, I saw The Rocket Summer and the memories came flooding back.
Texas native Bryce Avary, the singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist/producer mastermind behind The Rocket Summer, has accomplished enough for someone a lot older. He has six studio albums and several EPs to date, all written and produced by Bryce himself. It's been many years since I last sought out a new album from The Rocket Summer, despite wearing the same old sweat-stained t-shirt I've had for over a decade at this point. If clothes could tell stories...
If you are a fan of MAE, Jack's Mannequin, Something Corporate or Cartel then you will absolutely love this incredibly talented individual. I've now got two more albums to get hold of, and looks like my afternoon will be filled with the bright tunes of The Rocket Summer. Be sure to check out his debut album, Calendar Days as well as Do You Feel.
