In early June, we visited the SVD Laudato Si' Farm in Tagaytay. What awaits you there is described on the farm’s website with the keywords "FaithFarmingFoodAndFamily—Ecospirituality retreats and recollections; sustainable organic farming; farm-to-table dining; and more!"
Now, even though I'm an agnostic and not particularly religious, it all sounded quite interesting and inviting — so off we went to explore this sprawling eco-farm!

Was einen dort erwartet, wird auf der Website der Farm mit den Stichworten "Glaube, Landwirtschaft, Essen & Familie – Ökospirituelle Rückzugsorte und Einkehrtage; nachhaltiger Bio-Landbau; frische Hofküche direkt auf den Tisch; und mehr!" umschrieben.
Nun, auch wenn ich selbst als Agnostiker nicht gerade gläubig bin, klang das doch recht interessant und einladend - also auf ging's zur Erkundung der beträchtliche Ausmaße aufweisenden Ökofarm!

As I looked at the sign, my first thought was whether it might be a bit excessive to prohibit bringing your own food — just to support the on-site restaurants.
But then my second thought told me there's likely a very different reason for the ban: at other places, many people who bring their own food end up tossing the packaging and leftovers into the surroundings. And I can understand that the farm staff would rather avoid the tedious work of having to collect and dispose of all that litter...

Beim Betrachten des Schildes war mein erster Gedanke die Frage, ob es nicht vielleicht doch etwas übertrieben sei, kein eigenes Essen mitbringen zu sollen, nur um die auf dem Gelände befindlichen Restaurants zu unterstützen.
Mein zweiter sagte mir dann jedoch, dass es vermutlich einen ganz anderen Grund für das Verbot gibt: An anderen Orten werfen viele Leute, die ihr eigens Essen mitbringen, danach Verpackungen und Essensreste einfach in die Landschaft - und ich kann verstehen, dass sich das Personal der Farm die Arbeit gerne spart, solchen Müll dann mühsam aufsammeln und entsorgen zu müssen ...

At first, I worried the can might contain store-bought sugary water with artificial flavoring, but the juice turned out to be fresh and delicious — and, as I was told, made from their own harvest.
