Na początek rodzinne, od wuja, który nie był w stanie samodzielnie rozwikłać zagadki związanej z pewną manierką i jej właścicielem. Robert podejmuje próbę odkrycia, co takiego i w którym dokładnie miejscu zakopał rosyjski oficer, który padł w bitwie przeciwko Prusakom. | We begin with the titular 'Canteen'. Wbrew logice dociera do Orła i odnajduje Aleksandra, jednak to dopiero początek komplikacji. Tajemnicze obrzędy sekty chłystów, chcącej pokonać Antychrysta, podróż na własnoręcznie skleconych łyżwach po zamarzniętej rzece, brutalne przesłuchanie – to tylko niektóre przygody, z którymi Skórzewski musi się zmierzyć. | After five Robert stories we change companions and in 'Death Full of Secrets' we move far east, to Russia. Doctor Skórzewski undertakes an extremely risky journey into the Soviet Union to find his young relative and save him from life in the land of the Bolsheviks. Pewne odkrycie na warszawskim targu staroci przywołuje wspomnienia z wyprawy na Ararat, kiedy to wraz z towarzyszami próbował, jeśli nie odnaleźć Arkę Noego, to przynajmniej pokrzyżować plany ekspedycji tureckiej. Chyba najlepsze zakończenie w całej książce. | In Skórzewski's company, we will also explore the 'Mystery of the Mountain of Pain'. | Ostatnie opowiadanie, „Rehabilitacja Kolumba” odbiega od pozostałych. Alternatywny świat, w którym Ziemia nie jest kulą, lecz czymś na kształt misy, otoczonym potężną barierą. Do tego z potężnym kryzysem wodnym – mieszkańcy wierzą, że winnym był niejaki Kolumb, który popłynął zbyt daleko, naruszył barierę i spowodował, że woda wyciekła w kosmos. Tymczasem w Pieniny przybywa młody student, którego oficjalnym zadaniem ma być zbadanie zasobów surowców w okolicy. Nieoficjalnie – dostaje jeszcze jedno: ma zrehabilitować Kolumba i wykazać, że to nie on był odpowiedzialny za kataklizm. Zadanie niezwykle trudne, ale i nagroda nie byle jaka – ręka przepięknej córki hiszpańskiego profesora. Meanwhile, a young student arrives in the Pieniny Mountains with the official mission of exploring the area's mineral resources. Unofficially, he is also given another mission: to rehabilitate Columbus and prove that he was not responsible for the catastrophe. The task is extremely difficult, but the reward is also extraordinary - the hand of the Spanish professor's beautiful daughter. The student knows he can do it - he has discovered information in historical sources about a powerful earthquake that occurred just before Columbus' expedition, and he is convinced that it was caused by an extraterrestrial impact on the barrier. The only problem is that he has no way of convincingly proving his theory. But fate favours him. One day, during a search of the fields, he and a local highlander capture a hostile Turkish airship... |
