Saludos Hivers, les cuento que en una ocasión conversaba con una amiga que además es médico, acerca de la “Perfección Humana” y llegamos a la conclusión de que anatómicamente y fisiológicamente, si lo somos: Perfectos; nuestro cuerpo es una maquina perfecta, por su funcionamiento minucioso; luego la conversación llegó a otras dimensiones, ya que en un momento me refiero a las personas que lamentablemente han perdido alguna parte de su cuerpo, ya sea por un accidente o por consecuencia de alguna enfermedad o hasta por tema biológico, de nacimiento. .

En ese instante, le comentaba a esta amiga, las experiencias que tuve cubriendo deportes adaptados, paralímpicos, específicamente la especialidad del voleibol sentado (o ParaVolley); al ver y ser testigo de las habilidades de estos Paratletas, aún más nos sorprende la capacidad humana, esa fortaleza para “adaptar” su condición física a su situación actual, es algo profundo, que requiere entenderlo desde la realidad misma. Por cosas de la vida, conocí a las personas involucradas en el Voleibol Sentado en Venezuela (Este deporte forma parte de la Federación Venezolana de Deportes Sobre Silla de Ruedas- FEVESRUEDAS), nos dieron la oportunidad de acompañarlos en el ámbito comunicacional. A principios del año 2023, durante una semana, nos convertimos en el periodista oficial del Campeonato Nacional de Voleibol Sentado, un trabajo extenuante, sin embargo muy satisfactorio a la vez, allí nos encargamos de la Organización de la Rueda de Prensa, escribir las notas para los medios y redes sociales, la publicación en cada jornada, el trabajo fotográfico, edición de videos, entre otras labores.

Le seguía comentando a mi amiga, que tras esa experiencia mi respeto a los atletas paralímpicos aumentó, observamos todo el esfuerzo que hacen para destacarse entre los mejores y, ya que todos tienen un objetivo en común: Llegar a la Selección Nacional; como dato Venezuela todavía no ha podido Clasificar a un deporte en conjunto a unos Juegos Paralímpicos, pero esperan que sea el voleibol al igual que el Baloncesto en Silla de Ruedas, ya que cuentan con mucha popularidad e importantes resultados internacionales durante años; Para comprender un poco la dinámica de este tipo de Voleibol, la clasificación de los jugadores se basa en el grado de su discapacidad, dividiéndose principalmente en dos clases funcionales, está la VS1 Y VS2, les explico: los jugadores en la Clase (es el término que se utiliza) VS1 tienen discapacidades más severas que afectan significativamente el juego, los que entran en la Clase VS2 tienen discapacidades que afectan el juego en menor grado, entonces cada equipo puede tener un máximo de dos jugadores clasificados como VS2 y ahora bien, en cancha solo se permite un jugador VS2 a la vez, los demás jugadores deben ser VS1, esto para garantizar la participación equitativa, pero existen unas figuras primordiales en cada competencia y antes de ellas, los Clasificadores, en su mayoría son médicos o profesionales de la salud, quienes se encargan de evaluar a los Paratletas y certificar su clase.

Todo esto era nuevo para nosotros, por lo cual tuvimos que investigar, preguntar y estudiar mucho; se manejan otros códigos, un lenguaje deportivo muy diferente. No obstante el ritmo de juego es intenso, vibrante, muchos partidos se desenvuelven con mucha euforia y adrenalina al igual que en el Voleibol convencional. Comprendimos que el deporte adaptado es una realidad en el País con la necesidad de ser más difundido y divulgado en las Redes, con un sistema de competencias más amplio y mayor conocimiento aplicado. Este Deporte estuvo incluido en Los pasados Juegos Para-nacionales, donde el estado Guárico se llevó la medalla de oro, cada partido fue transmitido por Televisión Nacional, generando en se momento mucho interés por los usuarios.

Esta experiencia, como le expresé a la amiga médico, nos ayudó a poder amplia nuestra visión del deporte, otro mundo deportivo existe y necesita ser explorado y entendido por más personas, y de esta manera seguir “Perfeccionando nuestra condición humana” . NOTA IMPORTANTE: Cuando redacto un post acostumbro colocar primero tido el texto y luego intercalar las fotos. Con este post me sucedió que cuando me faltaba subir solo dos fotos se fue la luz toda la noche. Al regresar la luz por la mañana subí las dos fotos e hice clic en PUBLICAR. Through the twists and turns of life, I met the people involved in Sitting Volleyball in Venezuela (this sport is part of the Venezuelan Federation of Wheelchair Sports - FEVESRUEDAS), and they gave us the opportunity to accompany them in the communications field. At the beginning of 2023, for a week, we became the official journalists for the National Sitting Volleyball Championship, a grueling but very satisfying job. There we were in charge of organizing the press conference, writing notes for the media and social media, publishing news for each event, taking photos, editing videos, among other tasks.

I kept telling my friend that after that experience, my respect for Paralympic athletes increased. We see all the effort they put in to stand out among the best, and since they all have a common goal: to reach the National Team. As a fact, Venezuela has not yet been able to qualify a sport as a whole for the Paralympic Games, but they hope it will be volleyball, as well as wheelchair basketball, since they have been very popular and have had important international results for years. To understand a little the dynamics of this type of Volleyball, the classification of the players is based on the degree of their disability, divided mainly into two functional classes, there is VS1 and VS2, let me explain: players in Class (this is the term used) VS1 have more severe disabilities that significantly affect the game, those who enter Class VS2 have disabilities that affect the game to a lesser degree, then each team can have a maximum of two players classified as VS2 and now, only one VS2 player is allowed on the court at a time, the other players must be VS1, this is to guarantee equal participation, but there are some essential figures in each competition and before them, the Classifiers, mostly doctors or health professionals, who are in charge of evaluating the Parathletes and certifying their class.

All of this was new to us, so we had to research, ask questions, and study extensively. Other codes are used, a very different sporting language. However, the pace of play is intense and vibrant, with many matches unfolding with great excitement and adrenaline, just like in conventional volleyball. We realized that adaptive sports are a reality in the country and need to be more widely disseminated and promoted online, with a broader competition system and greater applied knowledge. This sport was included in the last Para-national Games, where the state of Guárico took home the gold medal. Each match was broadcast on National Television, generating significant user interest at the time. This experience, as I told my doctor friend, helped us broaden our vision of sports. Another world of sports exists and needs to be explored and understood by more people, and in this way we can continue to “Perfect our human condition.”
