Why I loved staying in the countryside with my parents.

Back when I was still working, some of my officemates envied me for having a province. Most of them are natives of NCR (National Capital Region) and have been living in the city since birth. Aside from knowing other dialects, unlike them experienced what life is in both places. Perhaps before I didn't see the advantages and was unable to appreciate it. Well I'm just young and ambitious back then. Thus, in my recent stay there for a month, let me point in out;

Peaceful, calm and slow pace. My mother and Caleb, sitting in a hammock one morning. There is no need to rush, or noisy neighbors just nosey, lol. At the ground you can even see fallen fruits of Santol. None wanted to eat unlike in the city you have to buy per kilo. You can stay there all you want on your own terms.

Spacious backyard. Mostly, everyone had a wide lot and could build houses as huge as they wanted. Not only that, they added anything in their backyards. Must be a garden or tambayan - resting place. There are still those who love to lay down outside and especially in summer. Not only that, there are still a lot of trees that give shade. Just the downside was you need to look for an area where to hang laundry. In our home, sunlight could barely pass .

Freshly picked fruits, for FREE. Since I arrived home, I've been eyeing this Soursop in our backyard and was lucky it ripened while I was still there. In provinces, we don't harvest other fruits not unless it's ripe and ready to eat.

In my husband's hometown, we don't have fruit bearing trees; no more space. If I want anything it means I have to go and buy at the market.

Just looking at, you can tell that this was indeed delicious. Anyone who wants it?

Not only fruits but even via and you can have it for free at times. This was given by a neighbor. These couple are the nearest one at home and they always give a bowl or plate of anything they cook to my parents. This dish is bamboo shoots with coconut milk and crabs.

Did I eat? It's hard to resist food so I had a few servings. After having several trips to the comfort room because my stomach could no longer tolerate any food with coconut milk. Not to mention the crabs.

What about the love in nature? If anyone had read my previous post, I would have mentioned butterflies. Then, I forgot about these. Yes, they sometimes go inside our house and rest.

This was the time when my father  passed out for a while. As we are all worried it appeared. Good thing the color was yellow or else knowing some of my sisters who are supertitous we might die in panic .

Lastly, I may be an adult but it still warms my heart everytime my mother will arrive home and have something as pasalubong (presents.)

If there was available at school she would bring home food that I missed. One was those bande - peanut with caramelized sugar.

Thus, here comes my son and his cousin fighting for it .
