Hey hivers! It's been a little while since the bug has been back from paint and just a few days ago I got her road legal! That's right she's back on the first time since 1996, Almost 20 Years ago!!
She's still got alot more that needs done but it is really exciting to drive her around!
Since the last update I got 98% of the parts it came with reinstalled and looking as good as I could get them! Many days of this was troubleshooting electrical and getting all the lights to work!
Got all the rubber stoppers in and trim installed.
This wolfsburg badge is my favorite!
"VW" installed.
Rubber installed for the bumper.
Headlights in!
Rear Light housings all installed.
Tail lights were fun, had to chase down some bad grounds but got them in!
I had a few touch ups to do in a few spots and had pain left so decided to paint the little bug that came on the keychain the same color.
New lens covers in the old turnsignal housings.
I love these little pieces of ephemra inside the light housings.
This color coded wiring diagram has been invaluable. The wiring page the wiring harness came with was in black and white and not much help.
The samba is VERY helpful for the things the instructions weren't very clear on.
More good information found.
Brand new blade style fuse box installed... No more fuses falling out hitting bumps.
I think the kids going to like it...
Don't the seats just almost perfectly match!?
So after getting all the lights working, come to find out the Alternator appears to be bad.... I havn't driven it enough for the battery to completely die on me when out and about but it's up on the 'to buy' list soon.
Took the top apart and the brushes appear to be 'ok'.
Door handles installed!
Windshield wiper motor and wipers installed! (AND WORK)
New cork valve gaskets installed.
The mechanical guage for the gas tank was busted, so a new one is in.
Old red velvet door panel covering.
I made new ones out of hardboard.
Part of the glovebox was pretty messed up.
Cut out the bad and glued in a piece of Hard board and glued it in. I forgot to take pictures, but this got covered inside and out with flex seal and it turned out great.
Convertable frame about to go on.
If fits pretty good!
@jakeimnotshure did another amazing job on the visors
All lights working and she's legal for the road!
Huge thank you one more time to @jakeimnotshure for the upholstry work! Just sent me this picture of the back seats being done! AMAZING!
Thank you every one for taking a look!
