I didn’t plan on doing anything today but I had been bingeing on carbs these past few days. So I tortured myself by impulsively attempting a 5k run and went to the gym. Although I often do short runs, it has been a long time since I did more than 2k in one go, about 3years or so? Well not counting a mix walk, jog, and run.
I wasn’t really expecting much, just trying to evaluate myself how much I can endure 😣 lol. I started off badly ahaha. At the first 10mins I was not feeling it, barely hitting 1k 🥲. So I switched to a high tempo music and pumped up the volume. I started to get the hang of it and matched my steps at every beat. I tried to maintain a 150bpm heart rate but failed 😆. It reached 168bpm but it was a great attempt though. haha
Surprisingly I didn’t feel out of breath and I gradually enjoyed my run. I think the music helped a lot. I completed my 5k goal around the 50-min mark. I could have continued but I’m already happy and contented about my little accomplishment. I walked the rest of my time and cooled down. In the end, I reached 5.64k with pace hovering between 5.5-6kph.
Now I’m feeling great and looking forward to my next attempt, whatever it will be. Is it too ambitious to be able to hit a 10k in one go by the end of the month? lol But oh well, I should go try a run outside first instead of using the treadmill. I do think there’s a difference when running outside.
