Hey Actifiters!
I weighed myself this morning, and let me tell you it was a little bit of a wake up call. Let's just say the scale has moved in the wrong direction from the last time I weighed myself. I know the biggest part of it for me right now is my diet. I have been snacking too much, and not always eating the healthiest sort of foods. My goal isn't to eat healthy 100% of the time, but I want to eat healthy more often than not.
I turned 40 earlier this year and over the past few months have wanted to get into better shape. Sometimes my knees bother me in particular, and I know losing some weight would really help with that. I could stand to lose probably 20 to 30 pounds - the problem is I don't lose weight as easily now at the age of 40 as I used to, and it requires a lot more discipline with what I eat than it ever used to. So I've been honestly struggling to be committed and disciplined to make it happen. After weighing myself this morning though, I want to make some changes in my diet. More vegetables and fruit and less snacks. If I did nothing else that would probably help me lose some weight.
The other piece of it is exercise. I'm pretty proud of myself for being fairly committed to a walk most days of the week. Today I looked at the forecast and it's expected to be in the '90s so I took a bit of an early lunch to get my walk in. Thankfully it was still cool out though. Beautifully sunny.
There was even some really beautiful flowers I noticed while I was out on my stroll.
Though I've been able to be more consistent with walking, I really want to build up my strength and flexibility. I know that that's going to take some self-discipline to make time for weightlifting and stretching. The best time to do that is early in the morning, but I have really been finding that a challenge to get up early enough to make happen. Realistically, I think I need to evaluate my bedtime routine and also work towards getting to bed earlier. Which reminds me, I read somewhere that people who want to be most successful with losing weight in addition to diet and exercise also get enough sleep each night. I guess that means I have a three-fold approach I need be working on diet, exercise, and sleep.
By the end of the day, I agree with Watson I'm plum tired.
