The Game That Shaped a Generation For me, Super Mario Bros. wasn’t just a game—it was a cornerstone of my childhood. Growing up, I didn’t always have endless options for entertainment, but that little gray cartridge provided hours (and sometimes days) of challenge, creativity, and pure fun. Looking back now, I can see how much those games helped me build skills that go far beyond gaming. Parents back then may not have realized it, but Super Mario Bros. taught critical thinking, problem solving, and most importantly, perseverance. Beating a Mario game to 100% completion wasn’t easy. It often took weeks, even months, to master every level, find every secret, and finally reach that flagpole or rescue the princess. Each failure forced patience and strategy, and every small success kept me going. Funny enough, those lessons have carried into my professional life more than I ever expected. I can still sit down with one of the originals and enjoy it just as much as I did years ago—maybe with a bit more appreciation for how groundbreaking it truly was. I haven’t had much time to play the newer Mario titles lately, but every time I see gameplay or trailers for them, that same sense of excitement stirs up again.
