Arepas de desesperación digital - Relato (Esp/Ing)

Era jueves y el sol incandescente permanecía incrustrado en la inmensidad del cielo. Caroline se despertó a las 9 de la mañana e inició su rutina, encendió su teléfono y se dirigió a Peakd para verificar que su cuenta estuviera en orden. Reposaba plácidamente en su cama imaginando lo que haría en la mañana con las criptomonedas que tenía en su billetera.  Revisó las noticias en redes sociales y una nueva estafa en el mundo criptográfico encendió sus alarmas. Se alteró un poco más cuando advirtió la tendencia a la baja del precio del Hive. La tranquilidad se marchó y un leve estado de paranoia tomó su lugar. Caroline decidió apartarse de las pantallas un rato para organizar sus pensamientos. Al llegar a la cocina pensó que unas suculentas arepas de pernil de cochino sería una opción ideal para desayunar. Volvió a revisar su billetera en Peakd antes de salir hacia **Los hijos de Wasi**, donde aceptan HBD y la comida es deliciosa. Cuando estaba cerca del local, el agradable olor del cochino a la parrilla invadió sus sentidos, podía imaginar también el queso amarillo derretido y la guasacaca haciendo fiesta en su boca.  Al sentarse no tuvo que ver el menú, pidió dos arepas de pernil con queso amarillo y que le trajeran un jugo tres en uno. Volvió a revisar el teléfono, tenía conexión a internet, la billetera estaba en orden, después de desayunar iba para el **Hato Grill** a buscar los ingredientes del almuerzo, Caroline se sentía en las nubes, rebosante de alegría porque su actividad en Hive era productiva.  En menos de cinco minutos llegaron a su mesa las arepas, el aroma del cochino asado con ajo y orégano era embriagador. Cada bocado era un viaje al paraíso, la carne en su punto y tierna, el queso derretido y la guasacaca elevaron la experiencia a otro nivel, sacó nuevamente su teléfono para tomar fotografías de su cita romántica con sus amadas arepas, directo a las redes para que la vean en acción, aprovechó para observar de nuevo la billetera y sacar cuentas de lo que pagaría en HBD y cuánto debería quedar disponible.  El desayuno tenía sabor a gloria, inclusive pidió otro jugo para sentirse satisfecha. A la hora de darse un gusto comiendo, Caroline no estaba pendiente de contar calorías ni dietas, lo de ella era pasión por la comida y eso no era negociable. Después de devorar su desayuno y permanecer unos minutos extasiada ante lo que había degustado, procedió a indicar que utilizaría HBD, lo que llamó la atención puesto que elevó la voz para que el encargado trajera el código QR, una novedad para los otros clientes presentes en el negocio que desconocían esa forma de pagar.  Con el código QR a su lado, Caroline intentó ingresar a Hive Keychain, pero esta vez no tuvo acceso. Su corazón empezó a acelerarse, aparentemente la aplicación se encontraba en mantenimiento. El pánico se apoderó de ella, su respiración se tornó pesada y de su boca no salía ni una palabra. Solo sus manos nerviosas se movían de un lado a otro de la pantalla del teléfono, intentaba resucitar la aplicación y era inútil.  En su desesperación ingresó a Peakd para pagar desde allí, en una operación sencilla de wallet a wallet. Sintió que el desayuno se le atascó en el esófago cuando observó su billetera en cero. El empleado y la gente a su alrededor se impacientaban porque detenía la dinámica del local. "Otra influencer que quiere comer gratis, ahora dice que se le olvidó la huella en la casa, justamente se cayó el internet cuando iba a pagar", escuchaba Caroline entre rumores, mientras sus manos temblaban y un sudor frío se desprendía de su frente. Las piernas le temblaran y sus labios pálidos apenas pronunciaban "Me hackearon". El encargado consternado no entendía, veía ceros por todos lados en la cuenta de @caroline_sin_k. Ella, en su angustia, no advertía que los encargados del restaurante no le estaban presionando, más bien la comprendían porque esos imprevistos suelen suceder.  En su desespero se imaginó lavando los platos, limpiando los baños, tiznada metida en el fogón y hasta presa por una arepa. también se veía siendo crucificada en las redes, captada por un teléfono indiscreto. La Cenicienta moderna sin hada madrina. Miles de pensamientos indigestivos cruzaban por su mente. Transcurrieron quince minutos tal como si fuera una hora, Einstein tenía razón.  Reinició su teléfono por quinta vez, ahora apretando las nalgas a ver si eso ayudaba, se dio cuenta que Peakd estaba presentando fallas y no cargaba los datos de forma correcta, así que todas las criptomonedas se encontraban allí sanas y salvas. It was Thursday, and the blazing sun remained embedded in the immensity of the sky. Caroline woke up at 9 a.m. and began her routine, turning on her phone and heading to Peakd to check that her account was in order. She lay peacefully in bed imagining what she would do in the morning with the cryptocurrencies she had in her wallet.  She checked the news on social media and a new scam in the crypto world set off alarm bells. She became even more upset when she noticed the downward trend in the price of Hive. Her peace of mind vanished and was replaced by a slight feeling of paranoia. Caroline decided to step away from her screens for a while to gather her thoughts. When he got to the kitchen, he thought that some succulent pork arepas would be an ideal choice for breakfast. He checked his wallet again on Peakd before heading to **The Children of Wasi**, where they accept HBD and the food is delicious. As she approached the restaurant, the pleasant smell of grilled pork invaded her senses. She could also imagine the melted yellow cheese and guasacaca dancing in her mouth.  When she sat down, she didn't have to look at the menu. She ordered two pork arepas with yellow cheese and asked for a three-in-one juice. She checked her phone again, her internet connection was working, her wallet was in order, and after breakfast she was going to **Hato Grill** to pick up the ingredients for lunch. Caroline was on cloud nine, overflowing with joy because her activity on Hive was productive.  In less than five minutes, the arepas arrived at their table, and the aroma of roasted pork with garlic and oregano was intoxicating. Each bite was a trip to paradise, the meat cooked to perfection and tender, the melted cheese and guasacaca sauce elevated the experience to another level. She took out her phone again to take pictures of her romantic date with her beloved arepas, posting them directly to social media so everyone could see her in action. She took the opportunity to look at her wallet again and calculate how much she would pay at HBD and how much she should have left.  Breakfast tasted heavenly, and she even ordered another juice to feel satisfied. When it came to treating herself to food, Caroline wasn't concerned with counting calories or dieting; she was passionate about food, and that was non-negotiable. After devouring her breakfast and spending a few minutes in ecstasy over what she had tasted, she proceeded to indicate that she would use HBD, which caught the attention of the other customers in the restaurant who were unfamiliar with this form of payment, as she raised her voice to ask the manager to bring the QR code.  With the QR code next to her, Caroline tried to log into Hive Keychain, but this time she couldn't access it. Her heart began to race; apparently, the app was undergoing maintenance. Panic seized her, her breathing became heavy, and she couldn't utter a word. Only her nervous hands moved back and forth across the phone screen, trying to revive the app, but it was useless.  In desperation, she logged into Peakd to pay from there, in a simple wallet-to-wallet transaction. She felt her breakfast get stuck in her throat when she saw her wallet balance was zero. The employee and the people around her were getting impatient because she was holding up the flow of the restaurant. “Another influencer who wants to eat for free, now she says she forgot her fingerprint at home, and the internet went down just as she was about to pay,” Caroline heard among the murmurs, her hands shaking and cold sweat dripping from her forehead. Her legs were shaking and her pale lips barely uttered, “I was hacked.” The manager was dismayed and didn't understand, seeing zeros everywhere in @caroline_sin_k's account. In her distress, she didn't realize that the restaurant managers weren't pressuring her, but rather understood her because these unforeseen events often happen.  In her desperation, she imagined herself washing dishes, cleaning bathrooms, covered in soot from the stove, and even imprisoned for an arepa. She also saw herself being crucified on social media, captured by an indiscreet cell phone. A modern Cinderella without a fairy godmother. Thousands of indigestible thoughts crossed her mind. Fifteen minutes passed as if it were an hour; Einstein was right.  He restarted his phone for the fifth time, now squeezing his buttocks to see if that would help. He realized that Peakd was malfunctioning and not loading the data correctly, so all the cryptocurrencies were safe and sound.
