**Granny** is a tale by Hans Christian Andersen that deals with the death of a loved one in a very subtle way. Although this author has been known for his children's literature, in this case the narration is oriented towards a more adult audience since it is quite delicate to explain to a child that a relative has died, especially one they respect and love. The story is touching and manages to strike a chord with readers. In this story the descriptions stand out, which contribute to create the representation of the main character, who is the grandmother, while idealizing the end of the life cycle. Empathy is shown at the moment of the inevitable and natural farewell. It also highlights the religious inclination, the grandmother was very devoted to Catholicism, for this reason she always had a hymn book with her. In the story, the death of the grandmother is presented as the closing of a long cycle and the beginning of another where peace reigns in the soul. This event, chiseled by Andersen's pen, is treated with delicacy, using the metaphor of the sky as a refuge, a scenario that can be assimilated by children. The funeral is described as a very beautiful ritual, on the walls of the cemetery they planted a rose bush that bloomed immediately, when the body was buried, in addition, the nightingales sang and in the church were interpreted the beautiful songs that appeared in the devotional book of the old woman. I found **Granny** a charming tale, written with great mastery. Death is not presented as something unpleasant but as the last step in life. That is why it should be accepted with resignation and, as far as the family is concerned, to accompany in a noble way in the farewell of the loved one.

**Abuelita** es un cuento de Hans Christian Andersen que aborda de forma muy sutil la muerte de un ser querido. Si bien este autor se ha caracterizado por su literatura infantil, en este caso la narración se orienta hacia un público más adulto ya que resulta bastante delicado explicarle a un niño que un familiar ha fallecido, sobre todo, uno al cual respetan y aman. La historia es conmovedora, logra tocar la fibra sensible de los lectores. En este relato destacan las descripciones, que contribuyen a crear la representación del personaje principal, que es la abuela, al tiempo que idealiza el final del ciclo vital. Se muestra empatía en el momento de la inevitable y natural despedida. También se resalta la inclinación religiosa, la abuela era muy devota del catolicismo, por tal razón siempre le acompañaba un libro de cánticos. La muerte no es presentada como algo desagradable sino como el último peldaño de la vida. Por ello se debe aceptar con resignación y en lo que respecta a los familiares, acompañar de forma noble en la despedida del ser querido.
