We reached day 4 of the #HiveAroundTheWorld challenge and the theme is Something that connects you with your culture. In this case, the joropo cumanés is a typical dance of my city, an autochthonous expression that is a symbol of identity and regional pride. I learned to dance it at school, when I was 6 years old, where I always participated in cultural events. From that moment on it has become part of my life, a tribute to my land and my roots, I have even danced it on such an important stage as the Luis Mariano Rivera Theater and also at the Quijotillo Theater. A few months ago I had the wonderful opportunity to attend and participate in the Book Fair, an event that was organized at the Cultural Cabinet, a place through which great artists and cultists have paraded, leaving evidence of their talents through their works and interpretations. That day I delighted in the Caigüire Dancers, a group of grandmothers who keep the Cumanese joropo tradition alive. It is incredible to see their enthusiasm, their smiles illuminated more than the shining sun of our east. I did not hesitate to recreate that moment for this occasion and that is why I dressed in my folkloric skirt and wore a red shirt, proudly carried my tricolor flag, and danced on that improvised stage where the Bailadoras de Caigüire danced. Certainly, people passing by watched me with eyes of disbelief, but that's exactly what a challenge is all about, to accomplish a goal without looking sideways. I was delighted to transmit a bit of that culture that defines me and to feel like an artist in the middle of a presentation. Llegamos al día 4 del desafío #HiveAroundTheWorld y el tema es Algo que te conecte con tu cultura. En este caso, el joropo cumanés es un baile típico de mi ciudad, una expresión autóctona que es símbolo de identidad y orgullo regional. Aprendí a bailarlo en la escuela, cuando tenía 6 años de edad, allí siempre participaba en eventos culturales. Desde ese momento se ha convertido en parte de mi vida, un homenaje a mi tierra y a mis raíces, inclusive lo he bailado en un escenario tan importante como el Teatro Luis Mariano Rivera y también en el Teatro Quijotillo. Hace unos meses tuve la maravillosa oportunidad de asistir y participar en la Feria del Libro, evento que se organizó en el Gabinete Cultural, lugar por el cual han desfilado grandes artistas y cultores, dejando allí constancia de sus talentos a través de sus obras e interpretaciones. Ese día me deleité con las Bailadoras de Caigüire, un grupo de abuelitas que mantienen viva la tradición del joropo cumanés. Es increíble ver su entusiasmo, sus sonrisas iluminaban más que el sol reluciente de nuestro oriente. No dudé en recrear aquel momento para esta ocasión y por eso me vestí con mi falda folclórica y me coloqué una camisa roja, con orgullo llevé mi bandera tricolor, además, bailé en aquella tarima improvisada donde danzaron las Bailadoras de Caigüire. Ciertamente, las personas que pasaban por allí me observaban con ojos de incredulidad, pero justamente de eso se trata un reto, de cumplir un objetivo sin mirar hacia los lados.
